Allen is simply the most powerful voice in the prog space...... There are some other compelling singers, but not anyone that gets to this level. His story telling prowess is just unmatched.... the band is there for him and the overall music drives a complete vision.... What else are you looking for?

to me Symphony X is better than DT because Russel Allen is much better vocalist than Labrie and SX is alot heavier. And SX is never boring to listen, when DT sometimes is.

I can proudly say that I'm from the great state these masters of music hail from, New Jersey, and that I've seen them live 4 times (not enough in my book), and that it's great to hear that they've evolved to a heavier sound while still retaining their Symphony X sound. Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of those bands that will keep getting better, because their hearts and souls are in the music, and luckily enough for us they share this genius with us! The Manaus show on June 3rd 2011 was great. It was the second time of SX in Manaus (first on June 2007), and despite the fact we now had a smaller venue the concert was amazing! This song looks incredible nice and pretty sharp to my ears and worked very well live, sounded better than studio version (cool indeed). Congrats and thanks to SX for releasing this true fucking metal missle called Iconoclast into my ears! Keep metal going strong!!!!

ICONOCLAST is probably my favorite Symphony X album, PERIOD. They kick so much ass on this album, it doesn't even seem humanly possible. All you whiners out there need to shut the hell up. This is the most powerful Symphony X to date. These guys are a METAL BAND! Never forget that. If you don't like metal, don't listen! Yeah Symphony X became more and more indistinguishable from other bands with each new album, I would recommend their first few albums to get a glimpse of magic, Damnation Game(Edge of Forever), Divine Wings of Tragedy(Accolade and title track) would be great places to start though most fans would say Odyssey as well...And yeah the vocalist is one of the main reasons I myself love the band, he 'sings' alot more in previous records.
