Guys, this was an exceptionally helpful video. I am getting older (73) and still shoot my age but it takes more work each year. This video's arm drills are "something" that you can feel quickly feel in practice. In fact my club head and ball speed were even better after 15 balls. That arm drill down and lead into left foot explanation is really something.

You guys explain things so well in a matter of minutes compared to years of confusion. Watching pros up at Torrey Pines twenty years ago made me realize how simple they kept things....for the most part, although no two golfers were alike. Sometimes watching those guys in person is a good lesson in itself. They're the best at that recentering move!

I backed into what I believe to me a good drill for how the arms drop and connect to the belly in a full swing. I was working on chipping tecq with 46 degree wedge as I was not pleased with my line or having consistent center face contact. I'm and experimenter and will often wonder off into the weeds. Historically my arm speed on take-a-way and length of back-swing would determine distance. I decided to emulate Ricky Fowler use of wrist cock, low hands and minimal arm swing. I found for carrying a pitch 20-30 yards that I got good results by dropping the arms and then turning the hips through the shot. I am essentially relying on the body turn to power the shot. This tecq worked it's way into my full swing and I am pleased with the results.

Great stuff guys . All you show makes sense and appears to be logical . Love the way you show that everything is in motion . As a retired baseball player (amateur) I am struggling with my sequence . Always thinking how hard is it to hit a static ball with a flat surfaced club head compared to a pitched baseball with a million different variables and hit it with a rounded bat ? So I manage to hit great hits and also manage to hit the worst slices way of the fairway. Wil sign in and hoping to find the perfect feel . Keep following you .

Makes perfect sense. Also explains how the pro's hit it so far with what appears like a lot less effort than amateurs, who don't hit it very far at all. I have a question about "re-centering". At the end of the takeaway, I want my centre spine line to move to my right, one inch without the pressure in my right foot going to the outside of my right foot. When I re-center, roughly from left arm parallel to the top of the backing, I move back to the left one inch. That being the case, is it accurate to say that the narrowest my feet can ever be on a full shot, is to have the insides of my feet wider than the distance between my right and left hip SOCKETS? If they are narrower than that, as soon as I shift one inch to the right on the backswing, I have gone past the outside of my right foot. My feet can be wider than that, swinging a driver, for example, but never narrower.

Great video - I am pretty strong and have long arms. I tried forever to get my hips ahead and its been so long of having my arms behind me, throwing/flipping the clubhead, getting my eyes out to try to have more chest rotation, etc... knowing that I need to actively begin to move my arms down from the top as my pressure shifts is a relief! Looking forward to implementing the drill tomorrow at the range. Is this something that is done with the driver as well?

Where should the face be to sync up with the pivot and arms for those of us that do this drill and (wrongly I think) keep that palm facing the camera?? Thank you!!

One of the great benefits of recentering is that the EYES can be STEADY as the club is delivered to the ball. I think that is an important point you could emphasize. I remember an old Kelvin M article that highlighted TIger Woods' arm speed on the downswing as a somewhat forgotten fundamental of great golfers. When you have to get the arms down to sync up with the body it does feel that the arms have to cover a lot of space quickly in the downswing if you are used to driving the hips and tilting the shoulders instead .

Sooo many people try to emulate extreme golf swings like Mcelroy, Fleetwood's or some other pro's that was cultivated through decades of non stop practicing. I think this type of 'basic' in synced golf swing is the best type of swing for the regular Joes out there. Master this basic swing and then maybe tweak it here and there to further maximize the swing. So if you're not a tour pro, then just use this swing. The amount of time and effort it takes is just not worth it AND might physically damage your body. Remember, Mcilroy, Fleewood, DJ etc are physical freaks of nature. That's why their bodies can withstand the enormous amounts of torque, twisting, stress, pressure etc. And even if they are, they most likely are suffering from numerous nagging injuries. Or in the case of Tiger Woods, MAJOR multiple injuries. So if you're naturally physically gifted, have above average motor skills, have the time to forever work on your golf swing, and the means to invest all that time and energy, then go ahead! If you're a regular Joe, have a 9 to 5 job, kids etc, then I strongly suggest not to dive into the rabbit hole. Because it is endless. THANK YOU GUYS!

When (where) in the downswing should one shift pressure into the front foot after re-centering? Is it when the left arm, right arm, or the shaft parallel to ground or some other reference? Does the body moving forward of center occur before, after, or simultaneous with pressure shift into the forward foot?
@AthleticMotionGolf
@AthleticMotionGolf 4 жыл бұрын
It's very basic athletic motion. Think of throwing a ball. If you can make a decent throw, you start to shift forward as you arm is reaching the top. You'll continue a little more forward as the arm starts down. Then you stop as the arm ramps up for delivery. Same basic timing for the swing👍
