Here's how you get notified of your gmail emails: -go into Settings -choose Notifications -choose Mail -choose your gmail account -then you will see a screen that lets you set up the type of notifications you want Let us know if you have any problems. Let's check the Fetch New Data setting to see when the Mail app is checking for new mail from that account. -go into Settings -go to Mail -go to Accounts -Go to Fetch New Data -Turn Push on -Check your gmail account to see if it is set to Push or Fetch. Note that Push will constantly be looking and could drain your battery quicker. You can use Fetch, just make sure to choose a timeframe at the bottom of the screen. If you pick "manually" it will only check when you launch the Mail app.

Double check that you have everything turned on in Settings - Notifications - Mail. Make sure Allow Notification is turned on, then tap on VIP. Make sure that Show in Notifications Center on; select a sound that is unique; turn on Badge App icon, turn on Show on Lock Screen. And for Alert Style, choose the one on the right - Alert. Also, note that if you have DND feature on, you will not get any alerts. If you go into the Mail app, you can turn on the VIP mailbox by tapping Edit in the upper right of the home screen and making sure that VIP is turned on. All your VIP mail will show up in that mailbox. Well...we are Apple girls but are about to purchase an Android phone and learn it to help more of our KZbin fans! ;) Here is what I found on the web for now - hope it helps. For the standard email client do the following: 1. Open Email. 2. Hit the menu button and select Settings. 3. Tap the account you want to turn notifications off for. 4. Scroll down to Notification settings and tap on Select ringtone. 5. Select Silent and tap OK. 6. Hit the back button until it takes you back to the inbox.

You have two notification options - banners and alerts. Banners come up briefly at the top of the screen and then go away and alerts come up on the screen and stay there until you dismiss the notification. There is not a way to "snooze" the notification so it will come back again. It would be a great addition though.
