I tried this set up for about two weeks. I bought the Syn2 used and had nothing but problems with it. The power amp is very heavy. My goal was to not carry a heavy Marshall head and have a lot of flexibility with tones but in the end, everything racked up, it was heavier. I got the BE and the SLO and neither had enough low end for my taste. Not even enough to rival my modded 800. I wouldn't say that was that big a problem but I like my gear to have more than enough - gain, bass, mids, treble, ect. I also had the SYN 1and using it with an standard head worked like a charm. What intrigues me most about this pre/power is the emulated outs. As well, the AxeFX units with their speaker emulated outputs allow us to recreate the post process studio chain and run these signals through an Eventide to access those predesigned presets. Perhaps a decent stereo compressor after the rig/before the effects, otherwise a very smart system. Syn2/Syn50/Eclipse. 👍 Pleasant surprise today. 😊

One thing this video did a really good job of showing was the differences in all the high gain modules which I know is a common complaint and I'd love that expanded upon. Back in 2008, I bought a Randall MTS head with the Egnater module based preamp system. It was pretty good, but made much better by a few guys that “hopped-up” the specs with some changes. For a couple of hundred bucks, they’d do several different upgrades and there were even other guys that would make custom faceplates for more individual looks. These modular amps went out of production for a few years….now Synergy has started making them with the actual manufacturer’s designs to get the actual sound that each amp has. I’m sure they are great, BUT…it’s nothing new.

Thanks a lot for this amazing demo!! I want to try this system But i don't know if it's ok with midi control? My set is actually: Preamp Triaxis Mesa Boogie, TC electronic effects. I control all my tones with it. And Engl E530 Amplifier. If i change the Triaxis for the Synergy, Can i control all the channels of the two moduls with the TC?? There is no demo for this. Sorry if my english is not correct!! I'm french! Thanks if you can help me!

Looking at the insane prices for simul class 290 power amps I’m very inclined to pick up one of these power amps or the fryette lxii, believe they are both linked to fryette, need a proper power amp for my triaxis and jmp1 etc 😀. At the moment I run into fx return of my jcm2000. Leon so far I’ve bought the jcm and triaxis based off your tone guides !

Mmmmyeahhhh. Gonna need you to run the AxeFX III through the 50/50 and a cab or two.

Would be cool to see how you would setup this system with say the FM3 on the floor. I imagine that would be one versatile setup

Vai runs synergy for his amps and axe fx 3 for his fx.

Leon how would you compare this to say running a Triaxis, MP1 in the same rack?

Nice idea, insane experience.. The price of the preamps is ok, but why the hell they ask 700e for a mount??
@manuvanpoeck14693 жыл бұрын
I agree, 800$ (without tax) is a lot of money for an empty shell

Uberschall , and Engle savage in my syn 2 , it’s glorious really the best gear it the modeler age, I have it run thru a helix floor and running in effects loop of a mesa mark V As well as a good IR, soooooo sweet , next going for Friedman. MIDI so my first 8 helix presets are all synergy ohhhhh I can go on and on!!!

Hey bud!! I know its an older vid to post on but for the last 6 months i've been scouring the web for a new amp and I just realized how impressive this SYN2 preamp is. My question is about some possible noise from the power amp? I know some is pretty normal but if it's power amp related it's of course a bit more tricky to tame. I have a work around for the fan noise if needed. Thx leon, tryly dude.

It's not any noisier than my other power amps are amp heads

@@LeonTodd awesome Leon! thank you brother and thx for the great vids dude. I'm a preamp kind of man myself!!1 Bless you mate. This Synergy rig looks more and more like the best way to go for me. I want stereo fx returns as well so a no brainer!

I want one. A high gain module and the dumble module and I’m good.

Hi Leon, thank you for this very interesting review!. I would have a question: I've seen in one of your previous videos that you have a Matrix GT 1000 power amp (that I also own), so I would be curious to know how these modules sound with that power amp / what's your opinion. Thank you!
@kissthissonline3 жыл бұрын
Did you try the syn2 paired with your matrix power amp, if so was it lacking compared to the syn 50/50?
@timoheinrichs3 жыл бұрын
I really would like to hear the preamps with the Axe FX! Maybe you can also show how they sound with di out vs poweramp hooked up to the fractal x load you have.

Definitely. Can't wait to do more.

Man, why does there have to be so many awesome gear options?! I've never really given too much thought on the Synergy thing but man, it's pure genius. And I'm with you Leon, I absolutely love the Bogner Übershall! One question though.. how do they react with a boost or EQ in the front?

Sounds great, I am trying to decide what power amp to get for my rack, do you have thoughts on them, this one looks nice as do the Fryette and Boogies.

How about the fan of the power amp? Is it loud since it's a small unit?

This has me thinking - a pairing of the T-dlx and the Bogner XTC modules could cover a lot of ground, and drop about 50 lbs from my gig rig. How does this thing sound with an external IR like the Two Notes stuff?
@LeonTodd3 жыл бұрын
I'll cover this very soon. I have a bunch of extra modules I didn't get to run through here and the Ecstacy is one of them !
@Yupppi3 жыл бұрын
What I really don't get when viewing the reviews or purchase listing on stores is what you pay and what you get. I know you can buy separate modules and I know different products cost different prices, but when you look at something like the basic system in an online store, it doesn't list what you actually get when you buy that. Like do you get modules and which modules for example.

Hi Leon, I was wondering when you'll get to test a SYN setup :) I have a SYN-2 and around 12 modules, now waiting for a second SYN-2 and a SYN-5050 !
@LeonTodd3 жыл бұрын
I can totally see why you'd want another Syn2, it's such a fun way to have stuff layed out!
