I had the exact same issue with my former Jupiter 8 some years ago. Op-amp failure on the VCO CV circuit.

This is a fantastic overview of your restoration. It has inspired me to get to work on my OB-SX again. Thank you so much for sharing!

Yep! Was interesting. Really nice to see new life breathed into the old, but nice machine.

Great video ! Thanks for sharing. From 5:05 to 5:06 there was certainly a few hours of painstaking work done on that keybed. I know, because I did the same on my 1975 Minimoog D when I first got it. I didn't manage to get all the keys quite straight. They're all leveled, height wise, but some are a little "crooked" or slightly twisted sideways, even though I took great care to put back the plastic keys at their initial position after cleaning them. Is there a trick, aside from fiddling with the rubber bushings, on these Pratt-Read keys ? Mind you, it still works really great (especially with the Opto-Key system installed), and I do enjoy the buttery feel of that amazing keyboard. My issue is purely esthetical.

Great video thanks! Very informative. Is the op-amp tester you built available on your website or can you share the schematic etc?

I’ve often wondered since 2000 what the point of this synth model was. Seems to have less going on even than an Arp Pro Soloist.

For keyboardists that don't need all the features of the OBX or OBX-a (OB-SX had both color schemes) or didn't understand programming and just wanted a polyphonic synth in their band. It's flat so you could put another synth ontop, or a Fender Rhodes Piano Bass for example.

Great video. Get yourself some nitrile gloves for those grungy keyboards.

Quite some complicated technology going on for a preset synth. Basically they only saved the pot boards and three voice cards. I personally never liked preset synths because the lack of „tweakiness“.

They do have a (pre-MIDI) computer interface on it, so you with just a little work you actually can break out pots for nearly all the parameters found in the OBXa
