Honestly I think it depends with fantasy, mostly on what part of the world it takes place in if you base it in of Earth. If travel is abundant and everyone is all over the place then yeah, that's perfect. If it's one supercontint then that works as well, but if a writer chooses to separate everything just like real world history that is fine too. I guess the real problem is that in the original work of fiction there are people who will freak out if there are multiple races in the story, and if you focus on one of them then people complain there aren't enough, like in the Witcher books and games designed the fact that there very much are black people in the witcher books and games, and they have no reason to want to be anywhere near the setting of Witcher because they are way better off where they live. I mean, why go someplace that sucks? I'm working on a comic right now (still very early into it, just working on characters and mythology so far) and almost every human character is white due to the setting. There is one black character I the story who came to this continent and his first interaction with the people were having everyone on his boat getting slaughtered because the believe them to be monsters of some sort because they have never seen a human with such dark skin. This guy manages to escape and is basically alone in this world because no one else knows he is human. So he ends up becoming some sort of rumor as a demon and ends up killing a lot of people because he believes that they are evil, and they believe he is evil. Basically, I don't think people should argue with the author about how their fictional world works, I just personally prefer to make them more grounded and reality, but if you are writing a story that you don't want to do that? Then great! Go ahead, it's your own world and it works exactly how you want it to, doesn't need to be realistic.

What I would say is that interracial relationships would be something expected in the fallout universe, there really doesn't seem to be any racially motivated agendas in the series, and black/white characters have always been in the series from the very beginning. However, the Fallout series *is* about hyper xenophobic people. Before the war it was based on geographic location/country of birth and after the war it is about tribes fighting for territories. Europe just before the bombs fell was an absolute powderkeg of scrapping individual states, the US was America first and couldn't give less of a shite about the rest of the world, other than where the resources were (and if they were there, the Americans were there fighting for them, to the point of annexing Canada and beginning to pressure Mexico). To this point, it strikes me as bizarre that the director/producer that speaks to the actor about shooting the other actor is obviously a British man of Indian descent. I would highly doubt that an American media company in the 2070's in the Fallout universe would have a person of that lineage in a high ranking spot, when there are presumably Americans that could be in it. Even Alastair Tenpenny and Kait are British/Irish immigrants that made their way across the Atlantic after the bombs fell, rather than being of lineage that happened to be there before the bombs fell. Just struck me as odd.

I think that’s true, I think they affected the peace talks. In the games the peace talks break down. In the show pre war, the peace talks are still going well. Plus Vault Tec weren’t even finished building their vaults and House wasn’t expecting the bombs to drop so soon. I think the war happened before Vault Tec was ready.

The show is canon yes. Its just a different time and place. Fallout is a setting, not a story following one character or group. Each game is a different time, place and people and different points to make. This series takes place the furthest into the lore in 2296. Fallout 76 is 2176 in West Virginia Fallout 4 is 2287 in Boston Fallout NV is 2281 in well... Vegas and Nevada at large Its fully okay'd by the people who write the lore so the retcon (as much as you may or may not like it) is canon. My only real question is what ending of New Vegas they are using. Doesn't seem like either the NCR or Caesar's Legion won out so far.

The vaults are said to only interact every three years on the "triannual trade" (or something like that). The death in the vault was said to have happened 2 years ago. There was no reason for the overseers to be in contact between that time, especially if they were trying to keep it secret that vault 31 wasn't a proper vault. Having more formalized interactions between the vaults would blow that whole thing wide open.
