People keep on saying retainers are not Samurai these people don't know what retainers are. In Samurai culture retainers are often used to secure the future of the clan incase the Dimeo died. You only got to be a retainer if you are see as somebody who was extremely loyal for example Toyotomi Hioshi was Nobunaga's retainer. Hioshi is the guy who went onto unite Japan. There is a statue erected of him just outside Osaka Castle. Tokugawa was Hideyoshi's retainer. What are all of these guys? They are Samurai. So people saying he wasn't a Samurai he was a retainer, a retainer can be a Samurai the word is literally just used to secure a Clans future in case the top guy dies. People saying retainers are not Samurai make no sense Oda's retainers are Samurai so if Yasuke was not a Samurai neither was Hideyoshi and obviously that is not true. For example Kashinden was a institution of retainers now this later became a class of Samurai. So there was different classes , there was different ranks but simply saying retainers are not Samurai is not true I woukd highly advice anyone who hasn't seen the Netflix show: The Age Of Samurai which depics 150 years of civil war in Japan. He was around the same class as a samurai, we don’t know if he was or wasn’t a samurai because we don’t have enough information. It is highly debated. Notably during the time period he was alive they didn’t use the word samurai often instead using other words (which could refer to a samurai, it’s a rectangle square situation with the words) some which were used for him, it why there is still a massive debate in academia about if he was a samurai. Nobunaga granted Yasuke a house with servants, a horse, and his own sword. As the retainer of Oda himself, he was given an honorable purpose, higher than even many of the traditional samurai. Retainers are still samurai however, and Yasuke did infact see time in battle. Not much is known about where he went after Nobunaga's betrayal and death. I love studying samurai, and Yasuke is by far my favorite, so i at least enjoy the opportunity to discuss him

You also have to download a patch to make the game playable, meaning even if you buy a physical copy it could be completely unplayable in 10 yeaars if they shut that server down. And as precedent and evidence of their business tactics, they released a game called The Crew almost 10 years ago and they recently shut the servers down so even those physical copy owners can't play the single player mode and they even tried to revoke ownership of those who bought it digitally until they got caught and blasted by various gaming news sites and reviewers. Ironwood is in the middle of nowhere and so if Atreus would actually do that than he'd get away with it easaly. Yasuke was a real person. He was the first non-Japanese samurai and the only African one. He served as a retainer to Oda Nobunaga. A retainer, not a "pet" as that racist piece of shit said. Retainers in feudal japan are positions of high honor and are people very close to the lord. They are people that are typically trusted by the lord from what I understand. As he is someone that was close to Oda Nobunaga, he isn't a bad choice for an Assassin's Creed game at all. He most likely would have been witness to some pretty pivotal events in Japanese history because of his position. I would have personally liked to play as Musashi, but he may be a bit too OP of a swordsman to balance a game around. It would just feel weird to lose while playing as him while knowing that he never lost a duel. Choosing someone who is a bit lesser known is a better move in my opinion too because it can leave more room for flexibility in the story.

I just have a problem with the ACTUAL legitimate historical inaccuracies of the game, like how the developers literally said that shinobi no mono (ninjas) and samurai were two different classes (they weren't, shinobi no mono were a type of samurai that specialized in various forms of spycraft and espionage, if you need proof check out antony cummins' extensive amount of research on the subject) and that higa was "isolated" from the rest of Japan despite having a well established pottery trade that went all the way to the capital, we also just don't know either way whether yasuke was a samurai or not, they considered him a type of warrior/bushi but that doesn't automatically mean he was a samurai, they also thought he was very tall and strong, there is also a painting with nobunaga where you see a figure that could have been yasuke wrestling with sumo practitioners, while he was a retainer and sword bearer for nobunaga he was still admired for his strength and could have just as likely been just a body guard for nobunaga, this doesn't inherently make him a samurai though, but in my opinion, is just as cool you could still be a bushi/warrior without being a samurai, similar to how the existence of ashigaru worked

While there are more today, I believe the majority of people still date/marry within their race. I think it's 6 out of 7 or something. Which is a big jump up from say, the 80s, but still a minority. It really depends on what you mean, normal as in "it's perfectly okay to do", yeah sure, but normal as in "statistically the norm", no not really. You have to consider that most people aren't in interracial relationships, so while obviously it's "normal" to do, it's not "normal" to see it constantly, so if you have an over abundance of advertising, plastering interracial couples everywhere they can as though they were the statistical norm, it's going to make people feel wierd, not because they're racist or anything, but simply because it's not representative of most people's lives and daily experience, while being presented as though it is. This is when you also meet the issue of pandering on the other side, where people who are in interracial relationships will also understand their experience is not the norm, and seeing an over abundance of representation can feel as though it's being forced so the companies can get a "yay you did it, you showed people we exist, wooo so cool, take my money", people see through that shit and it's off putting to be pandered to. Representation is a good thing, but you need to be careful about over representation, making something bigger than it is or singling it out as special, hyper focusing on it to a point where it becomes almost annoying and obnoxious because it's obvious what you are doing and why you are doing it.

So, we had "Ghost of Tsushima" which was a fantastic game. It felt like what I wanted an assassin's creed game to be. It explored the main character's conflict over his definition of "honor" and what it means to be a samurai. It did so very well. But do we really need another story about an honorable samurai battling the conflict to be honorable and loyal while also combatting an enemy that fights dirty? That's been done very well, like Ghost of Tsushima, but it's also been done to death. The netflix show "blue eye samurai" is amazing because it takes those tropes but on top of that, the protagonist is a woman and she's half white. So we get more complex stories involving her overcoming sexism, racism, on top of exploring what it is to be "honorable" and all that. It's fucking fantastic. Having a black character and a woman character gives the story room to explore deeper, more complex issues. Will ubisoft do it well? Probably not. But having a black character and a female character lends itself to deeper story. Key point: Having a minority/outsider and a woman (both who face more challenges than just killing enemies) SERVES A PURPOSE FOR THE STORY.

I think the issue of why women get more offended at sex jokes from men is because most women have faced SA or sexual harassment.
