I still find it crazy how one game created a whole genre named after it
@SyntheticMan4 жыл бұрын
When Demon's Souls came out, there was nothing else like it at the time. Dark Souls took that foundation and improved nearly every aspect. Between that, the "prepare to die" marketing, and being on every platform catapulted its popularity. And its still a masterpiece to this day in my eyes.

It’s just sad the difficulty is retarded on some of the games in this genre. Sekiro felt like that at times, dark souls 3 felt like that every second of the game, and blood borne while the best game, still definantly got ridiculous occasionally, especially if you were a good player who didn’t need to soul farm.
@darkdestructer3 жыл бұрын
uhm I mean I love souls but that is what happened with multiple game-genre. Metroidvania's got their name from the first 'Metroid' aswell as Roguelike's having their name based on the game 'Rogue'
@darkdestructer3 жыл бұрын
@@mlgenderclangaming5470 as someone that platinumed all those games, I can say that is not true but difficulty is dependant on who you ask. as far as Sekiro goes it is way more timing-based. I played through all devilmaycry games multiple times, where timing is everything and I can say that I beat every sekiro goes blind on my first or second try. But to me platformers are way harder because Im just not good at them. Bloodborne on the other hand (while maybe biased because it was my first souls game) is pretty hard. Some enemies or areas are utter BS on your first playthrough or even afterwards.Like I played BB to ng+7 and still fear that cave in the nightmare frontier with the 2 winter lanterns(singing brains) Personally I wouldn't call any souls difficult, because if u are cautious and never rush in you usually won't die often, that said I personally would like even more challenge. Maybe not on your first playthrough but like additional harsh mechanics in ng+ or something

I want to support this game so that the devs can make a sequel with just MORE. Even if it involves Epic giving them exclusive bucks (I play on console anyway lol). And what I really find mesmerizing about this game is that the combat looks like a very intense dance. There is commitment to the moves you do but the game seems to allow attacks -> attack/dodge transition to be accessed very easily. The lack of coherent lore or characters to attach to is a bit of a bummer when watching this video becuz other souls-like try to approach that and allows you to be a fan outside playing the game pfft but it is cool for now cuz I dig the style and look of the player character esp with the armor and the environments are cool (even if I see them as too wide sometimes). I feel like a meme for this game could be.... something very hard. The hardening souls-like game hehehehe...

I really loved that forest, I'm a huge fan of the bohemian forest I've been there many times, this game really captures that vibe, especially the fact that branches hides stuff even the sunlight is hidden by branches, the moss, the thick water and the lute was just the cherry on top of it all

Looking at this game I see it is a labor of love, visually it looks pretty like any UE4 game, but from pure gameplay perspective I don't see why would I want to play this game when there are 3 Dark Souls games. Maybe If I was souls junkey? I see Remnant From Ashes being mentioned, I don't think Remnant should be compared to Mortal Shell. Mortal Shell is copy/paste Dark Souls, while Remnant is a mashup of various design elements that also include some Dark Souls elements. I would like to see what do you think about Remnant. I went trough the game on various difficulties with various builds and weapons and game has 3 glaring issues: 1. No shooting from hip (ADS flat out doesn't work well as a design choice). 2. Difficulty spikes on bosses caused by unholy levels of cannon fodder spawns. 3. Armor or tank builds are useless in end game. Good review! :)

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't mind the 10 hours or the low variety in enemies, not per se anyway. What I'm worried about is that it plays more or less like Dark Souls 3 combat wise. How is it compared to DkS3, does the combat feel different to you, or like what's the Souls title that it reminds you the most of, combat wise? Thanks for checking out this game and sharing your thoughts. If only it would have been a bit more daring, I just can't get enthusiastic about the Souls games anymore. They could have at least changed the rolling mechanic to a sidestep animation or something, it's about invincibility frames anyway for the most part.
@SyntheticMan4 жыл бұрын
It's definitely closer to DS3 and Bloodborne than DS1 or Demon's. No shields (though Hardening is kind of like blocking), and combat is more focused on 1v1 knight fights than a group of demons or hollows. The 2 balanced characters have a sidestep, which is functionally the same as a roll but faster.

Totally disregard this suggestion, but I was just thinking how funny it would be if you were to give your impressions (not really reviews) of games which you most likely won't enjoy nor like because of the genre. Kind of like a rant video in a comedic fashion, embracing the right to dislike something that you openly state as being not your thing. You make good rants, you know, if you go over-the-top with them and make it your "thing" then people might also be less bu77hurt about the whole affair because those who don't like to hear it can easily dismiss it as "not serious", while you can share your honest views.

@Synthetic Man, I can understand that. But I'm as tired of Souls games as I am of Open World FPS games with RPG elements and crafting. Any thoughts on the Call of Duty Black Ops reboot reveal? Think this one might actually be good or is it an other bait and switch like they pulled with MW 2019?
@SyntheticMan4 жыл бұрын
@@Gruntvc Bait & switch politically, story-wise, or gameplay? I'm not sure that I know the controversy with MW 2019. Though I would take the safe bet and not trust Activision.
@Gruntvc4 жыл бұрын
@Synthetic Man, Story wise, Infinity Ward promised no politics in the game, but it actually was political and woke too. Plus the shill/activist gaming media attacked the game, prompting fans to think it wasn't woke. One of the biggest controversies was MW 2019's depiction of Russians. I know they've been villains in the original MW trilogy, but the reboot went even further. They basically depicted them like they were WW2 SS. Gameplay wise, it was fine and their actually was a few good moments, plus no season pass baloney. The last CoD campaign I liked was Infinite Warfare lol. Do admit Titanfall 2 had the better campaign though. Btw, might check out Mortal Shell given its lower price. But, kind of want to wait for a used copy 1st.
