Mineral spirits in the syphon gun is the best option. Cheap, no residue, and it works. Stick the syphon hose right in the can of mineral spirits.

The Subaru engine is a good swap. Have done it before. Somehow I remember the mule having dual carbs. Do you just have the dual setup on the stock square back engine to eliminate the "injection" those came with? They can be temperamental. either way. love watching the episodes

Free prison shank with every siphon gun! Sweet... Siphon guns are all about what you spray. Straight acetone to strip paints, straight mineral spirits to clean oily engine parts, and Mean Green (not Simple Green) mixed 1:1 with water for general purpose cleaning. :D

Please please go ahead with a Subaru swap. Not only does it make the mule more of a mule but it means you can switch to fuel injection and get some sick turbo and boxer noises

look into Subaru eg33 motor. used for planes and other high performance reliable applications. 6 cyl. ej22 with 2 more cylinders.

Subaru swap for sure! With a turbo to boot! You could get a tricked out VW motor though, then you don't have to worry about a radiator, but since the rear of the Mule is open it wouldn't be too hard to put a radiator back there.
