People will adopt free small pets to start mass breeding with them too Here are some things to look out for if you are rehoming your small pet/pets: - Not interested in seeing extra photos - Avoiding answering questions first time - Reluctant to show set up/food/bedding - Pushy/insisting on taking them as soon as possible - They dont care which pet they take (you have a litter/multiple pets) - Calling the pets 'it'/no effort with names After I had accidental rat babies I have a guy ask for first 2, then 3, then 5 of the baby girls and he was really weird, he did all these and when I told him they weren't suitable for breeding he suddenly couldnt take them anymore Don't be afraid to really grill potential adopters, your animal's life is worth it

Sadly as the main caretaker, and being a child, they didnt have the most spacious or comfortable habitats. I recently got a sweet Syrian hamster named Butterby. When i got her I got the largest cage they had was too small so right now im using it temporarily until I can afford something bigger. I can tell shes stressed and it hurts me because she's starting to chew on it. Finding your channel helps because at first I didnt know where to start to learn how to properly care for her. Animal loving mom here. There's nothing more cruel than getting rid of your child's pet as punishment. Kids get distracted they forget they can't learn to care for a pet unless you TEACH THEM. It takes 2 minuets to remind your kid to care for their pet. "Did you feed hammy today? when was the last time you cleaned his cage? lets go clean it together okay?"
@MunchiesPlace4 жыл бұрын
While we cannot say for certain what truly happened, there may have been a time her mom said those words and she still wouldn't take care of it. While we hate to hear she punished her child for not taking responsibility, she did however wish the animal well and wanted to see it thrive in a different home. That wasn't selfish at all. Poor choices lead up to it yes, but we are just happy that we could safely help Belle. 🐹

it’s so sad when people have them in so small cages, but the best hamster cage I ever had was actually a guinea pig cage that I got for free as a curb alert, too small for a guinea pig but definitely way big enough for a hamster (I don’t even know the dimensions but ok when I put them in on the rat cage calculator it’s big enough for three rats) , and my dad owns an air conditioning company so he was about to go to his shop and cut out hardware cloth in the perfect sizes I needed and put a neat edge on it so there was no sharp points, and he even had made wooden levels that screw onto the side since it didn’t come with any, I stopped getting hamsters when I was like 14 but I kept the cage and it ended up being a cage my rats go in when I’m cleaning their big cage

The woman does not sound like a good Mom. She punished her child and that hamster for her own failures. My daughter is the one who Begged me to get our hamster. I also told her she would need to take care of him. She looked up what she could and she tries, but as the adult it is my job to understand what is really best, provide that, and encourage her by showing her. That's how kids learn- by example. It is a terrible Idea to get an animal and dump it on a child. No kid, not even a teenager will always be 100% responsible, that's why they have parents.

Quick question about my hamster- I’m currently a college student living in a dorm with my hammie. She’s as sweet as can be and never shows signs of stress, she’s a trooper. Due to new obligations, I have to travel each weekend. I plan on taking her each week, she has an appropriate sized bin cage that already smells like her, but are the frequent car rides bad for her? She’s originally in a 40 gal breeder so I cant bring that each weekend. In the past when she’s gone on long car rides (for me to take her from my dorm to my house during breaks) she still walks around, runs on her wheel, eats, etc. while on the road, so I don’t think she’s that stressed out by it?

Are you not able to leave her with extra food and water for the weekend, or in the care of a dorm mate? If she isnt showing signs of stress, she should be fine! :-)

my hamster wont stop biting her bars and escaping her cage but she has 782 square inches of space, hides, chews, a big wheel, and a sand bath. (and of course food and water) I also have it to where she forages for her food. I dont know what to do and really need advice! 😥🥺

You may need to change to a bin cage or a tank that does not have any bars to chew. Also, how often are you interacting with her?

I had a hamster named Zip, my kiddie self called her Zippalina, but let's just say she also tried to make a speedy exit.
