It is a major question for Syrians(whether they realize it or not), because it points to the direction where the country is going. There are Syrians who drink alcohol(Christians or even Muslims with a non-radical interpretation of Islam), if they are punished for it, it means the new government cares more about Sharia law than about protecting people's freedoms, and other rights will be removed step by step over time. Every country that goes that way turns into a dictatorship, and Syrians know what dictatorship means. They need to choose whether they want a country like Afghanistan, Iran, or Turkey.

@bootsmade4walkingСағат бұрын
@@JustSuger123 Hmm, good point! At the same time, one can argue that the "small freedom" of alcohol's legality has been shown time and time again to reck havoc on societies. Why are some people in the comments section expressing surprise at BBC question on alcohol? In my opinion, all question including alcohol is needs to be asked and answer gotten because the pattern is there in many Islamic countries. Rather than pursuing development of their people like health, education, economy, security etc for all they will be legislating hijab wears, alcohol, women should not go to school or work or drive car or vote in election. The ones who put money into security and military are doing so to target non Muslim individuals and nations. Sometimes you wonder if that's all the have to offer.

There is none of that, there were attacks by ISIS that hurt Muslims the most, then they were eliminated and the spearhead in eliminating them was the leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa. But let's leave that, what about the genocide in Gaza that is being carried out with the blessing of the western world?

Haven't we fallen for this one before? IDEA: We'll lift sanctions and recognize legitimacy as soon as they elect their first female political leader.

Compare the small buffer zone that Israel took to the large amounts of land that Turkey has taken along with their butchering more Kurds. Six Druze villages near the Israeli border voted to be annexed by Israel rather than stay in Syria but obviously that isn't happening. Turkey are slaughtering Kurds.

Israel is attacking him and you're saying they're on his side. Crazy how people can twist anything to fit their agenda.
