My C96-M30 also (correctly) does NOT have a serial number on the stock tang...and (also proper for a M30) the rear door release button is engraved with a series of different diameter rings instead of a checkered pattern. Hint to spot fakes.....the release button for a true Mauser that uses a checkered release button, has the checkering done vertical/horizontal grooves. The Chinese and maybe even Spanish copies have checkering that is X pattern...not vertical or horizontal but cut at a 45 degree angle.
