System of a Down - Serj Tankian - Voice Change - 1997 / 2015

After watching a few other Serj Voice Change videos here on KZbin and getting very annoyed at the lack of effort and detail in all of them, having things like a 2002 clip for the years 2003/2004. I decided to make my own using a huge amount of footage starting from 1997 up to 2015. Rather than just using one clip per year, I have used multiple clips from every year (apart from years he hasn't played many shows [2003, 2004, 2009]) going month by month as close as I can get it.
I have tried to use clips from as many different songs as possible while still putting certain vocal parts in for multiple years to hear the change in certain sections (E.G. "Chop Suey" Final Chorus / "Suggestions" Big Scream / "Sugar" Chorus).
Please keep in mind that in all the clips from 2005 / 2006, SOAD is playing all the songs half a step higher (Drop C#) making the vocals higher and mostly harder to sing.

My *OPINION* on his best vocal years. 10: 1997 9: 2011 8: 1998 7: 2002 6: 2001 5: 2015 4: 2013 3: 2005 2: 2018 1: 2003 I made my picks based on how his clean vocals were in contrast to his screaming. For example, 2003 had great screams and great clean vocals. Another example is 1997 had decent vocals but insane screaming.

Wether you want to admit it he’s changed the style of music he sings and his voice changed along with it. His voice isn’t nasally as much as it’s extremely refined. Before his voice was gritty and not as clean. He’s able today to hit notes with his current voice he definitely couldn’t as he was younger. Plus also age definitely factors in too but his voice, in short, is extremely more operatic than it was before since thats just what he does now.

After mid 02 Serj started taking care of his voice and started conserving his growls, very obvious by 03-04-05 Doing drop c# in 05-06 probably messed up his voice a bit bc of the higher pitch 07-10 has my personal favorite sounding Serj voice, tho you can hear the nasal develop

2002-2003 notice the change 2006 fucked voice 2007 recover good voice and souds more like old serj 2008: what the fuck happens? sounds more pitch high 2011-2012: shit voice sounding like helium balloon 2013: good and more angry voice with screams 2014-2015 sound good, not bad but.. 2017: serj doesnt scream anything but sound like 2014-2015 The voice of serj is the same but has no strength on lower/bass voice maybe cause he sings with nose/sounds nasal etc...

this is dumb.. its a change of musical style overtime across the SOAD albums coupled with a change in recording quality of these shitty live events (some clearly recorded on someone's early 2000 era phone).. a comparison of music straight from the albums would make more sense , but again its a change in style and this video proves nothing to do with "voice change".
