@carshoptalk hello. I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ. With this same issue. Is this something I can do myself in the resetting or does a dealership have to do it? If so. Can you tell me an approximate cost for what you did??

I get the message while driving. Not when I turn the car off. What does this mean? My car is only two years old

Literally having this issue right now with a 2020 explorer i just got this past Tuesday. Will this cause the deep sleep mode message to pop up on the ford pass app? Car starts fine.

Yes it will.

@CarShopTalk so basically the BMS just needs to be reset?
@CarShopTalk Жыл бұрын
@@bruhbedrivin yes, and if the battery is run down it needs to be charged. Load shedding is determined by a combination of battery voltage and calculated state of charge.

@CarShopTalk oh ok. I drive 70 miles each way to work 5 days a week so i know it should be charging enough. That message would pop up right when i shut the explorer off. I wonder if the dealer just never reset the bms

@@bruhbedrivin Possibly. State of charge seems to be something that gets out of wack occasionally on some vehicles. If the battery checks out okay and the state of charge is reading low I’d definitely reset the battery monitor if that hasn’t been done yet.

Try resetting the BMS. Turn the vehicle on, but do not start the engine. Wait for the battery warning light to illuminate on the dash. Flash the high beams 5 times, then press and release the brake pedal 3 times. After about 10 seconds, the battery warning light will flash 3 times indicating the BMS has been reset. If your battery and alternator are good, this will solve the issue.

@@da4944 hey Da4944. Thanks for the heads up on the BMS, however That’s been done, (Fords Take a Long Drive) is a Bogas suggestion, That doesn’t work either. I’ve been keeping the Battery on a CETEK MAINTENANCE CHARGER 🔌 Since I bought the Truck New. After the Battery was Replaced Back in 2023 with the Larger AGM Battery, the issue seemingly was resolved, however It has Returned??? So I will mention it to my service writer next time in for service / Issues. Thanks again I appreciate it very much.

My ford fusion nav screen was showing that familiar message “system off to save battery”. The car worked and started fine. So I used the reset BMS procedure as shown on many KZbin channels. But right after that a yellow wrench icon appeared and my Fordpass alerted to a Powertrain fault detected reduced power. Once I started the car the yellow wrench icon went away. But it did scare me. I will take my car to get battery replaced since it is over five years old now.

What about a Lincoln mkz 2017

You can reset the Ford BMS without using FORScan. Solved.

How do I keep the battery on and the engine off so I can go to the drive-in? The battery shuts off automatically when the engine isn't in use. Lincolns are absolute trash.
