HEAR ME OUT: we suspect Imu and the gorosei are not only immortal but from the void century. It seems crazy that all of them had the op op used on them. We know technology was crazy advanced in the past. What if tech was so advanced that they over came death. Everyone (or most ppl) were immortal then. There's no joy in living forever. So did joyboy introduce death to people? He was 1st pirate and jolly Roger's have a skull which usually relates to death right? The 2 factions of the war were immortality side and death side. Luffy and most "D" clan isn't afraid of death which seems like a strange thing to put in the story but makes sense under my premise. There's more there but u get it. U and Par should brainstorm this and see if anything clicks

Plant theory: It is not uncommon for upper-class individuals to refer to 'commoners' as insects. (I am talking historically and currently in the real world.) Imu is the devil from Cuphead. I'm calling it now; he's going to have the same cartoonish powers but evil. When Sabo gets attacked his silhouette looked like a cartoon especially that arrow he shot at Sabo which looked like a cartoonish animation of what an arrow would look like. Imu was the "Joyboy" for the 20 Kingdoms and the reason why he has the same powers is because he's probably the brother of Joyboy and they both modeled their powers after Nika whom back then was more of a legend like Roger than a Myth and I say modeled because I believe that particular generation created Devil Fruit based on their imaginations which was a power likely granted by Nika and the reason for all of the plant symbolism involving Imu and Luffy is because they are the ones to likely grow the Adam and Eve trees and eat the first Devil Fruits and because they were so opposite Joyboy's was based on freedom while Imu's was based on control same power but used very differently you know how Luffy's Gear 5 is based on Tom & Jerry; well I theorize that Imu's will be based on a character like HIM from Powerpuff Girls an ultra powerful reality warper that's extremely sinister has the same cartoon logic as Tom & Jerry but more violent and instead of freely being able to use the elements like Gear 5 Imu's will be using those same abilities to restrict freedom itself the ultimate counter to Luffy because let's be honest nobody (not even Shanks) should logically be able to be take down a mastered Gear 5 Luffy with complete control and awareness of his fruit. It also makes sense as to how things like the Red Line exists aside from the Earth God fruit it could be Imu bending the very earth to restrict the freedom of the people and to protect the remnants of the Ancient Kingdom that he was apart of. I don't buy 20 regular Kingdoms stopping the most technologically advanced civilization in the world AND Joyboy without the aide of someone from the ancient kingdom helping them, that was Imu he was the shunned prince who defected and form a coup with the other Kingdoms using his knowledge of the ancient kingdom's technology to counter them and using his own Devil Fruit power to counter Joyboy whom was a naive kid like Luffy who hadn't mastered his power hence why he lost to Imu who had taken the time to master his. Lastly, I believe the ancient kingdom was so special because all of the races we see now were apart of it while the 20 Kingdoms were just regular humans I also believe that the ancient kingdom were the first to achieve space travel and visited the moon where they met the first Minks whom they made an ancient weapon with. Wano is so important because in the ancient kingdom Joyboy's best friend was likely the first samurai and the head of Zoro's bloodline, he also had a Buccaneer friend, Zunisha as a pet, Toki's ancestor who was more than likely married to Zoro's ancestor, Lily, and some others I'm missing this was the first pirate crew and like Luffy Joyboy just wanted adventure but caused too much chaos as a result culminating in the 20 Kingdoms desire to get rid of him in the first place.

Well don't forget about Blackbeard who is our other main antagonist and does have a power of Shadows power so that is your perfect counterbalance to the light of the Dawn from the god of the sun. This is one of the signs that Blackbeard is the real final antagonist, even though he is not the current ruler of the world and not the only one we have to take down. Honestly I think he's going to take down the world government taking advantage of the battle between the straw hats and them. then we're going to have to take him down to finish it all off

I think the siluett of Imu is just to mislead us. My believe is that Imu looks like a young girl. Reason for that is that young girls in this series very often play roles that are not that forefront but unbelivebly important. Shellstown - Rika, asking Luffy to help Zorro, which leads to rekruting him Skypia - Aisa, ask's Luffy to safe her home and has the Voice of the World Ohara - Robin, a child with the knowledge to threaten the world Fishman Island - Shirahoshi, born with the power to destroy the world Dressrosa - Sugar, has the ability to make people be forgotten Wano - Otama, ask's Luffy for help and can make any Beast her ally Egghead - Jewelry Bonny, a young girl that makes herself appear older with her power, and can mimic the Nika Fruit For most cases, the later in the story we are the more broken little Girls become And i think Imu is another case of "little Girl that gets help from Luffy"

thing is it might actualy play out exactly like movie 6, the reason i say that do we all remember one piece strongworld, i cant believe oda dropped such a in your face foreshadow down to the clothing, wano act 4 almost beat for beat play out exactly what strong world did. 1. we are fighting a rock member in shiki who also woulve been younkou level. 2. oda uses japanese architecture in strongworld with heavy emphasis to wano. 3. lufy is wearing a overcoat like roger for the 1st time, and only again in wano. 4. first time we see luffy use gear 3rd to such a high volume, if you compare the foot in rob lucci fight and against shiki its way bigger. and then he goes full giant in wano 5. theirs also hints of the underworld dropped which as we all know doflamingo was in charge of. I love watching one piece movies again becuase back then we just saw them as stand alone movies with no substance in the cannon, and then 13 years later you realise oda basically gave wano act 4 away 13 years before it happened, and whos to say film 6 wont pararellel the imu arc.

I'm calling it now. I think Imu is based off the Aztec God Tezcatlipoca. I believe he/she is the sibling of Nika. And has a Black Jaguar-like transformation (not an Umibozu). We're going to learn about his backstory in Elbalf as he will be one of Elbalf's gods (probably not named Imu) and the original Elbalbian Sun God. He will still be worshipped by a small group of Giants including the Royal Giant family of Elbaf the Jaguar Family. With Jaguar Loki being revealed. I'm locking in my bet. Going all in. I think you’re taking the flower thing far too literally to say that Imu is a flower. It seems to be more of a symbolization. Most likely that Imu took the body of Lili, possibly with Nefetari being the “conductor” of Uranus like Shirahoshi and Momo. Doffy mentioned the immortality AND personality surgery. Imu’s VA has already been confirmed as male, but when a personality switch is done not only do the switches keep their own voices, their EYES always get switched as seen with law to the strawhats. Imu probably did love Lili but couldn’t have them and decided if “you can’t have them, no one can” and took over her body to use Uranus. Though the VC war made them lose access to its power source.

Random theory for funzies: Imu is a magical pen/brush that combined with a mythical devil fruit of the moon god/goddess of dreams. The property of its ink can be used to create, manipulate, and give abilities. The Elder Stars got their transformations and abilities from Imu directly drawing it as a part of them, or drew the devil fruit for them to eat and gain them.

I think the idea with the flower is cool but I disagree with these connections: The fanbase of One Piece is crazy sometimes. Oda is really smart and brings back many characters, but all the ,,hints" and ,,foreshadowings" aren't always ones. And looking at the whole stuff with the bugs is really really farfetched. ,,Oh, Oda did it again!? Wanze was FORESHADOWING IMU????? He was using Ramen as a weapon. Kizaru was estinf Ramen while arriving on Egghead. And Luffy also ate Ramen. Ramen looks like the waves in ancient japanese drawings and Imu could mean Imu backwards, so he must be made of ramen. I think is make a lot of sense that Imu is the earth god representation. Can probably move/create land masses and/or grow plants. I think we see Shank's father or Grandfather the representation of the Moon. And Lilly possibly had a rain type devil fruit. Would pair well with Imu and his powers. Alabasteta is also in drought and a desert could mean why Lilly was very important to her people. Possibly also a reason why she didn't want to join the rest of the 20 families. Just food for thought.

I mean if joyboy knew that there would be someone else what other treasure would he leave besides his hat to symbolize the same thing that shanks was trying to get Luffy to realize… he already left the ancient weapons… I think IMU already has the one piece and when shanks said it’s time to claim the one piece in Japanese it’s said that he said it in a literal sense of let’s go and steal the one piece!! It has to be the Straw Hat… From the beginning the most significant thing in the story has been the straw hat… I believe the D clan was the original straw hat pirates and that IMU was the traitor that Dr Vegapunk was referring too.. the will of D isn’t to hide the from ones that bear the name.. but to not expose the traitor which is NERONA D. IMU of the original Straw Hat Pirates!! There is a backstory to the straw hat… I’m sure of it how did Gold D. Roger come into possession of it and it just so happens that Nerona D. IMU has the same hat… I’m sure IMU bears the D initial… Did anyone notice when Buggy threw Law the hat at Marineford he recognized it and was about to say something revealing but got cut off… Blackbeard may be the traitor amongst them he said he will make a deal with the Government as long as he’s the boss of his own country… And one other thing of course the D are natural enemies to the Gods what kinda person would put that story out besides a traitor that despises his captain… whoever it is will be jealous of the way that these women love Luffy.. Vivi Shirahoshi Rebecca… the same as Lili… it’s just history repeating itself but I think Oda has yet to hint on who this traitor could be!! I've been thinking for a while that the gorosei aren't real people, but extensions or sub-creatures born of IMU so really IMU is they plus the gorosei, the gorosei are just fragments of IMU with some individuality based on their duties. that would explain why they all seem to have those weird powers outside, devil fruits or haki, because 1 anomaly it's ok but if we see 6 beings like this why wouldn't be more and some not associated with the world gov, is more plausible to just think as IMU as an anomaly that created or separated from they self (hence having the same powers) tasked to fulfill some specific area of government, like if we could separate some part of our brains into another body we probably do 1 clon for chores, 1 clon for finances, 1 clon for self defence, etc...

i think imu is/was a jester from the void period that orchestrated the overthrowing of the world, placing himself onto the thrown. Purely based on his silhouette, his hat is reminiscent of a jesters cap minus the bells. I agree about Imu being tied to the moon and his powers are going to be similar but I think opposite. Luffy is Joy Boy and Imu is Depression Man. Joy can be described as an uncontrollable euphoria where as depression is an uncontrollable sadness. Both things alter the way you see the world, one through positive energy and one through negative energy. I actually think Imu is a yokai, the Omibozu, from Japanese folklore. The devil fruits may have originated from him deing an actual demon and since the Omibuzo are known for drowning sailors at sea, this is his trick for eating one of his fruits. semi related - The only way to survive an omibuzo is by offering it a bottomless barrel and then sailing away in its confusion, black beard is a bottomless barrel and i belive this is why he can eat more than one devil fruit. In some of the stories about the Omibuzo, if you've seen it but say nothing then you can sail away freely. If sabo had looked upon the empty throne, saw Imu but decided to say nothing, he and lulsia would be fine today. But i also think Imu is a woman, and has connections to both alabasta and dragon. I don't have any evidence for this but I hope luffy and vivi are cousins related through Dragon and Imu's relations lol. But that also implies that Imu is the Mother of Luffy and that probably doesn't work with oda stating we saw luffys mom a way long time ago

I like the idea of another cartoon ability fruit being out there, but I think if anyone is going to have the fruit, it’s going to be Blackbeard. His fruit is already different compared to other logia and darkness is quite literally the opposite of the sun lol. On top of that his fruit looks so similar to the the nika fruit and they have been compared to each other for a long time. Pair that with Luffy and Blackbeard having similar ideals but going about them in opposite ways, I think Blackbeard has to be the one to have this fruit.

One thing here ive noticed one thing about sun god nika what is the polar oposite to the sun ?
