Bicep update: partial tear, actually a lot better than expected. If I didn’t do what I do for a living and my a career didn’t depend on it probably wouldn’t need surgery. However I’ll have minor surgery in the future after I get some bigger collabs out of the way! Thanks for your concern and well wishes. I will be documenting all the training, and my attitude is very positive with all of this. Please save any negative comments for yourself. This is all about positivity and moving forward :) things happens and I’m blessed for how long to be training that this was my first training injury.

Tearing a bicep isn't super painful. It's surprising more than anything else. Also makes you mad because now you're looking at downtime for surgery/recovery. The surgery is more painful than the tear

@@wigletron2846 this. did both of mine in a span of 3 years, along w/ an acl. pain-wise, none were in the same stratosphere as a broken bone. rotator cuff, patella & achilles tendon tears are motherfuckers, however.
@Bloozguy10 ай бұрын
@@wigletron2846 Tore my right bicep....at work. Probably was in the making from years of on/off training....being off, coming back, thinking you're as strong as before. I was hoisting some heavy shit at work,(during an 'off' period), thought it was some sort of shoulder injury. Wasn't training at the time, hurt like a bitch, but not rolling on the ground hurt. Just iced it and worked around it at work. After about a week or so, noticed I had 'popeye' arm. Went to the doc, said it was too late to fix it. Had to be repaired with 24 hrs. That was almost 10 years ago. Now pushing 70 this summer. I thought _0h well. Who cares now?_ Interesting over the years how a 1/2 bicep impacts your daily life. Things you take for granted, show up big time. Like, using a screwdriver....ouch on the turning. Bags of groceries twisting up etc... cramp city. Then, I figured if I train right, I can at least get that bicep as strong or stronger than untrained old guys my age. Works like a charm. Can only do curls with 80lbs for sets of 6, but that's like 18 reps most guys my age can't do with even 1/2 that weight. And now, my everyday life is hardly impacted, but I am wary of doing heavy training.... last thing I need is another tear into snap city.

I also had a partial distal tear. Due to unforeseen circumstances, it took 4 months to get the surgery. If you have a choice get it fixed ASAP. It will get worse if you leave it and eventually will tear all the way. It's like a frayed rope. I had 2 MRIs, 3 months apart. 1st MRI was 30% torn, 2nd MRI was 70% torn. It will also scar over which makes the surgery more difficult. I also had a 1 cm retraction of the bicep, which isn't a huge deal, but because it took so long to get the surgery it didn't return to it's normal position. It's only an aesthetic issue but it's something to think about. Orthos usually like to repair biceps within 3 weeks

I did this doing single armed, light weight to! i looked into it after..the bicep in this exercise in a very vulnerable position, happens often whilst doing this exercise apprentley, i guess its because of the lockout part, even if you avoid that you still have to put the weight back, then you arms get close to lockout then anyway..so if you do it use a dumbbell and stay well away from lockout, kinda like arm wrestlers train it. i was out of action from lifting for 3 months, but was 6 months until i could go heavy on pulldowns and weighted pull ups etc.. i avoided training biceps directly for a long time, but it took me a yr and half to get back to the same strength levels i had been at before on things like weighted pulls ups. It was very frustrating.
