Thankful to see you back on KZbin. As someone who has struggled with depression most of my adult life, I appreciate your boldness in speaking out about your own issues. Looking forward to your content in 2023.

3:45 I always make sure to force myself to follow my 4321 rule for rest. 4 minutes for SBD (and OHP) 3 minutes for all other compounds 2 minutes for isolations (although I allow 2.5 if I feel I really need it) 1 minute for abs and calves

Joey, good to see another video. I bet you and Antoine could have an amazing video/podcast regarding mental health. He has helped me a lot in my life battle my demons with his words of advice in his videos. Stay massive Coach 💪

Far, far from the only one. Mental health is just as important as any other part of your body, if not more. I always strive for balance, if at all possible, because extremes in either direction lead to negative outcomes for me. Keep up the great work and heres to a fresh start on a new year.

I totally understand your last point, especially because the muscle memory idea sometimes can take longer than just one training block, and it can be necessary for carry over to really really build that foundation with muscle memory

i've been guilty of all of these at some point, probably still committing the first sins of insufficient rest times between sets, excessive volume before 'working sets', excessive variability and and exercise changes at the expense of mastering simpler programming.

This is definitely going to be good, but I know one I wish I knew about years ago that isn't often talked about and that is regulating intensity to prevent plateaus and injuries, as well as boredom because if you're not excited about training then you probably won't train for very long
@SzatStrength Жыл бұрын
Yes I can talk more about that in a future video!

1. Rest periods 2. Too many warm-up sets 3. Too much volume 4. Weight over technique 5. Not using a variation long enough

Thank you for all the brilliant advice. I wonder if "5 lifting mistakes I wish I was aware of earlier" would better explain the purpose of this video to people. I think it may be a bit confusing, as it is, but that may well be due to my own poor comprehension. I hope to work harder than ever to increase my rather poor PRs, in 2023. :D

@@SzatStrength I was worried it may have come across as critical. You are a true gentleman as well as an astoundingly good athlete. Thank you.:D
@LatimusChadimus Жыл бұрын
Yeah your legs are definitely worthy of everyone being jealous over haha but if I did give a piece of advice to help you with the upper body, especially with all of those underlying muscles that get ignored, doing bent arm barbell pullovers as a warm-up or even as a working set in your regimen would help you greatly with all of the insertion points and the overall range of where muscle can fill in at. I can't remember where I heard this phrase a couple of decades ago but it essentially went as stretching teaches your muscle where it can grow and doing things in a flexed stretch position gives a lot of the endpoints of the muscle a chance to get stimulus that regular resistance training can closely mimic
