To be fair, when we do start going out and giving star systems and planets conventional names we are going to borrow heavily from sci-fi and pop culture. Case and point is Pluto. We gave features on the planet names straight out sci-fi, and there's now an area on Pluto called the Cthulu Region.

I'd like to give you a little tip for quicker transit to stations. Head towards your target at maximum speed until your eta gets to 4 seconds, then set your thrust to minimum, this will make you get to (and past) the destination very quickly. As you pass your destination pitch to view it again and as the little relative directional circle changes from a hollow dot to a full dot go to 75% thrust, this will make you head towards the station at maximum speed without overshoot. Doing all this will take off a good 20-30 seconds off of your travel time. Also love your videos man, always very interesting, if you ever need a wing mate or anything add me, cmdr Imotep Darkling.

For fuel, there's also fuel scoops which allow you to get fuel from certain star types. (O, B, A, F, G, K, M)

Rajukru -> 50ly -> HIP 80634 -> 130ly -> Altair -> 170ly -> Rajukru. Each system has a station whose name begins with S (Solo Orbiter in Altair, for example) and each sells a rare good. At most you'll need 40-50 cargo capacity to carry all the goods, none are illegal at any of the stations. Remember to find a station nearby a nav point about halfway through your longer journeys to refuel. Details (including expanded routes in the area): imgur.com/IFs8Zjz

@Manabender7 жыл бұрын
9:29 I've seen a few rare stations that don't offer refueling. Good thing is, you can always check what services are and are not offered at each station from the system map. I _think_ that the ability to refuel (as well as the cost) at a given station is linked to that station's supply of hydrogen fuel. That is, after all, what fuel in ED is, as evidenced by the fact that a fuel scoop takes fuel from near a main-sequence star (which is little more than a gargantuan ball of hydrogen). Yes; by the year 3300, we've unlocked the secrets of efficient hydrogen fusion power.
@SlyEcho9 жыл бұрын
8:11 I don't really understand why it sometimes complains about drive fuel limits. Although Scott next goes to refuel the fuel gauge in the bottom shows there to be enough fuel to make that jump. I understand that there may be some kind of limit how far your FSD drive can jump but then why did the course plotter not make a better route?
@adolfodef9 жыл бұрын
+SlyEcho Probably because it can not know how much fuel you will use in between jumps. Things like set throttle to zero while on hyperspace, then accelerate to the "blue zone" to have a better manouver response, having to shiftdrive a little to get line of sight to the next jump vector (when there is a star or planet in the way), etc... (Except for unknown solar systems, it COULD be processed by a very smart A.I. in advance, maybe skipping then when you select "economic" routes instead of fast ones). Then there is the unexpected stuff like scanning and interdiction (or a cat jumping in your keyboard).

@achimhanischdorfer34039 жыл бұрын
+SerpentNLD With a small ship you are better of to go bounty hunting first. Provided you find the right system with pristine metal rings and a good station and you have the correct ship and equipment mining is equally as profitalbe.
@SerpentNED9 жыл бұрын
+Jamming87 those Fer-de-lances are even better usually >200k after scanning ^^. And today I was able to make like around 1.6mil./h which is nice I guess :P. But what I'm wondering about, what's better to do hour wise. Bounty hunting: 1.5mil - 2mil/h is easily possible I think, and I'm still in a beefed up Viper mkIV (lovely ship btw, only a bit clunky compared to the mkIII but being able to fit a larger powerplant is really awesome) Trading: 500k/h probably or a bit less? With starter(ish) ships Mining: have no clue, the start up with it is slow and you get bothered a lot by pirates. But with like a Cobra it could be around 300k/h I guess if you have an average spot. Exploring is the least profitable I assume, probably it's better to do it as a hobby when you are travelling between the stars.
@achimhanischdorfer34039 жыл бұрын
SerpentNLD Trading profits depend on your rank and ship size as well as the system you're in. An online buddy of me is broker on the way to entrepeneur(no clue how to spell that word). He has a Asp Explorer refitted for cargo capacity with 104 t capacity. He averages 6 mill profits for a cargo run of often illegal goods. Typically you need to transport those ~450 light years. Cargo runs can be incredibly profitable. You can also find systems that sell resources below marked value and sell it to neighboring systems that have a high demand of those. You get a lucky combo, you can make 25 mill per hour. Mining is dependend on the ship. You have a Lakon Type 6 or and Asp Explorer or anything bigger and you typically look at 1.5 mill/hour provided you mine in systems with pristine metal rings and only asteroids with high value materials. That is a dangerous thing to do though. Pirates LOVE to attack you with a full cargo hold on the way back to the station. I advise doing such thing in wings where the other members are bounty hunting in the resource site until your cargo is full and then return with you to help you out when you get attacked. Bounty hunting profits are largest in hazardous resource sites at ~1.5 million per hour when you go solo. Powerful combat ship required. Anything weaker than Vulture not recommended to do that alone. Vultures are (in my eyes) hand down the best fighting power for money fighters. They give the 4th largest combat bond payout if you kill them in a conflict zone. More powerful ships than the vulture are: -Federal Gunship, Federal Assault Ship, Fer-de-Lance, Anaconda, Imperial Clipper, Imperial Cutter, Federal Corvette and the Python (very expensive ships) Hazardous Resource sites also have the best asteroids. So for going mining I suggest flying near such a site and instead of doing a safe drop into it you "ram" yourself into the belt in supercruise near it. This way you can mine undisturbed and also have good asteroids to mine. Move ~2 minutes at top speed away from your drop spot. Pirates LOVE to follow you out of warp and are generally ANNOYING.

@DanteCorwyn9 жыл бұрын
I've done it with 36tons with a Cobra, but rare goods tend to only be in stock in limited amounts. I maxed out my cargo bay because where I got them (Lave and surrounding area's) had lots of different places I could get rare goods, then I just flew to my home base (one item I got turned out to be illegal, so won't be getting that again as I nearly ran out of fuel).
@lightlandstrider9 жыл бұрын
+blbelt2001 It depends on your ship really, once you get the Asp you can easily have almost 100 t and a really good jump range. But if you have a smaller ship you can use a Hauler like Scott (16-18 t) or an Adder (20-22 t) as they both have an above average jump range and decent cargo size for the ship class, an Adder is essentially the Hauler's big brother and is just a little bit more expensive. A cobra mark 3 (40-44 t) is also a good candidate. Keep in mind that I didn't take into account fuel scoops and I kept the lowest possible shield generator. If you want to experiment and see what ship would fit your fancy the most I'd suggest playing around with E D: shipyard, you can simulate the stats and cost of all ships with it.

I don't wanna pay monthly for online (like in WoW - i hate games with that concept) I would be pleased if it had fps, but would love to explore lots of planets(like in no man's sky) I also would love to be able to walk insider your own spaceship and stuff :) I hope you get the idea, i would really apreciate every single recommandation!
@beaucoupzero9 жыл бұрын
+thaGkillah I own Elite and SC and ED was pretty much a huge disappointment, it`s pretty much devoid of content, cold, grind without purpose and most ppl play offline (not to mention the fact the it resembles a beta release not a full game, it`s that full of bugs and shitty mechanics, no trading between players bro, no docking two ships in outter space, they don`t do docking in the future, apparently it is lame). Also, the business model ED chose felt really wrong, I was really upset when planetary landings became, out of the blue, a thing you must pay for again at full game price not to mention it adds zero value to the game experience, just more grinding and empty rocky planets. SC does feel more immersive even at the early Alpha stage when compared to Elite (the fact that you can walk inside your ship and have copilots/gunners and that kind of stuff does make a huge difference i had quite a blast when i was invited by a random player to join him in huge space craft), BUT they have quite alot of work ahead of them and i am not entirely sure they will succeed simply because they have to deliver on so many fronts and yeah it is full of annoying bugs and crashes quite alot but the graphics are superior to ED ... Eve online is pretty much a mature game, but in my case I don`t like the flying at all, however the complexity, features and the huge player base do make it a logical choice at this point. i have not tried No man's sky ... best,

+beaucoupzero Thanks i just decided to get SC with the Avenger + gamepackage combo. Its incredible how detailed everything is. You can see scratches on the floor... and they look so real with all the reflections and shadows. Its a superb game and it got 10/10 on my first impression. Yes there are bugs...some more annoying than the other but still like you stated you can walk in your ship which gives it even more realism and mindblowing feeling. This game has already pledged over 100mio $ can't be any more promising. It just makes me nevous that there were many delays on the main release. It is set to end of 2016 lets hope they can achieve that goal. By the way should i get an Avanger with LTI from ebay? I just don't know if its worth it. I researched a lot and the avanger was the best bang for the buck and maybe it will be my one and only ship for the entire game. Idk i feel already causy with it. I am not sure how the insurance work after all the research it just confused me more, thatswhy I don't know if I should invest in an Avanger with LTI or no. Best Regards

I am...considering getting into Elite: Dangerous. I am *extremely* skeptical. On one hand, I absolutely adore flight simulators and space simulators. Games like Eve Online are part of my collection. I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I've seen the Steam reviews...most of them are just plebs who can't handle waiting around a little and have no clue what the definition of immersion is. I'm the kind of person who has flown, and enjoyed every second of it, I might add, a f-35 from New York to Alaska, stopping for fuel along the way, in real time. I forget how many hours it was, but it was long enough that I had to stop and eat, use the bathroom, etc. What I'm getting to is that I don't give a single fuck if the travel time is going to be long. It's the *gameplay* that I'm interested in. How much is really going to be added if I buy Horizons? Can I still have fun and expect updates in the regular game, or have the developers moved on from vanilla Elite? Is Horizons worth it to buy *right now* for $60, or should I wait for a Steam sale? Is my joystick good enough to enjoy the game fully?
@Kaelnovar9 жыл бұрын
+you said The main things added in Horizons so far is landing on planets and moving around in a rover, so i would say wait for a sale. Each year they are also adding a new 60$ part of the game. I just wish i had backed when it was a kickstarter now that i know that, they git it all free.
@jwenting9 жыл бұрын
+you said you will get updates for the core game, but NOT new content. That's reserved for Horizons, which comes with the core game included btw. Is it worth it? That's hard to tell. For me it is, I love flying around, roving around planets, exploring the scenery. For others it may not be. You opt for Horizons, you opt for a year's worth of content, only a small part of which has so far been delivered (with more coming in a month or so and every 6-8 weeks down the line most likely). Given the regular/original price of the core game, the 20 Euro extra for Horizons is more than worth it just for what's already been delivered. Given the heavily discounted price during the current sale, maybe not. Then again that price is the same as the discount you get when upgrading, so it's quite feasible to buy the core game now and buy the upgrade to Horizons somewhere down the line (of course they might drop the discount for upgrading at some point, that's a risk you'd be taking). And yes, the negativity comes from kids who want to be hand held through a scripted campaign, never having to think about making their own story. And from people suffering from an overblown sense of entitlement who scream bloody murder that they're not getting free upgrades and new content into eternity, even though it's always been crystal clear you'd have to pay a yearly fee for new content. Those same kids of course are more than happy to spend hundreds of Euros from their dads' credit cards in the item mall of some "free to play" MMO...
@WatersEdge3379 жыл бұрын
I got into the game a few months ago, and I've actually got the same flight stick you do. The framework of the game itself is amazing. The flight model feels great, the combat is engaging and challenging. My problem is that the world, for the most part, feels empty. Frontier just hasn't done much yet to flesh out this galaxy they've created. I say "yet" because they're still adding stuff in. While I really do enjoy some of the bounty-hunting stuff, I enjoy it for its own sake. I collect bounties to get money which I use for bigger ships to collect more bounties. If the flight/combat wasn't so good, I don't know if I'd play it much. Personally, I'd wait for a sale, but you may enjoy it for entirely different reasons.

One way to do this would be for the motherboard manufactures to add a low frequency USB port so that a transmitter could be plugged in, while still being able to use the headset at the same time. What this also means is that the motherboard manufacturer would have to collaborate with a speaker company to do his, but hey... it's do-able, and I believe it would be a big hit.

"Which means that it's not particularly bright...." Well, yeah, but it's got a nice personality, at least! One crucial tip for smugglers: If you approach a station (not an outpost) from the direction of the planet it's orbiting, you will almost always drop out of supercruise with the entrance in sight (if not directly ahead, then at least at a shallow angle). Just be aware that human pirates will likely know this too.... (And NPC ships usually take about six to ten seconds to finish a scan if you stay in range the whole time. I've read that you can interrupt law enforcement scans by targeting them and raising your hardpoints; the NPCs will stop the scan to do the same, buying you a few extra seconds to get away.)

+Ben Pople That's really the only workaround, in which case, why even have interdiction if it's going to break more often than not? I think a more long-term solution would be for FDEV to just fix it.

I feel that some time later in development, the devs should add a larger element of RP, such as wondering through stations or ships, that'd make the community a tad larger for, while certainly not negligible, a small amount of effort outside of decorating.
@kedrak909 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if Elite wants to go in that direction. I would love to see better missions. When you do an epic hostage rescue all you have is a bit of text. I wish that would be a bit more emersive and alive.
@cameronmcallister76069 жыл бұрын
Shardar 1 I don't mean full on cities and stuff, but like what Star Citizen did with the cities, something similar, with special services there are the possibility of RP, your idea also sounds good, riddles and shit.
@kedrak909 жыл бұрын
+Cameron McAllister Walking around starports and stuff would be awsome. Obtaining inofficial missions in a dark alley sounds great. I dont think missions like the one Scott does in his last Star Citizen video would come to Elite.
@panko28489 жыл бұрын
+Shardar 1 They have said they plan to have walking around starports and ships, when they were talking about Avatar creation and multicrew ships they mentioned it was all leading towards being able to get up and walk around.

Eight minutes to get from one interesting system to another? I understand that it's a multiplayer game, so you can't have time warp or fast travel. But to me I think that would just feel like one really long loading screen, but you can't just walk away since you still need to babysit it. I was really hyped for it too, but I guess it's not for me. (Also I don't have a joystick, and I get the feeling that mouse and keyboard aren't very good controls for it.)

+Veikkaz zukkeli It's not a very good game, if you ever get bored. It's pretty much 40 assets copy pasted 400,000,000,000 times.
@kedrak909 жыл бұрын
Its not a game everybody enjoys. The game doesnt motivate you. You have to motivate yourself if that makes sence. You decide what you want to do. I think trading is boring. I like bounty hunting and close calls facing of a anaconda. You can do a lot in the game. Bigger ships do require a lot of grinding.
@juliansuse19 жыл бұрын
+Veikkaz zukkeli If you like open world and space ship games, definately!
@tepkisiz9 жыл бұрын
+Veikkaz zukkeli The only logical way to make money in the beginning is bounty hunting, which is a weird decision by the developers: all the money Scott made in this video u can make by just killing one anaconda in 2 minutes, which is easy if u have 3 security ships firing on it. The game mostly doesnt make sense but it is the best space simulation game u can have at the moment.
@kedrak909 жыл бұрын
You dont need so long to get into it. At the very start I wrote down what button does what. Most of them are them are of little use. I thought thruster up, that has to be the button I throttle up. My first two landings ended whith the station killing me. I learnt a lot about the game in a stream. I learned that you shouldnt attack a anaconda in a Sidewinder and other important lessons. If you watch Scotts Videos you know a lot more than i did when you pick up the game. I just learned about the activ use of the discovery scanner. (I thought it would be just passiv)

I think trading is not worth it, you can get more money by killing 2 ships in a combat-zone (takes about 2-3 min) than Scott made on this trading run. But it is up to everyone what they want to do.
@scottmanley9 жыл бұрын
+Space Pelican Yeah, although to be fair if you get a bigger ship and start running a full rare goods loop it's more profitable. Bounty hunting is a great way to make money though.

I bought this and all future expansions during the beta. I can't concentrate my patience longer than a couple of hours. Mission descriptions are vague and I have to use google to find out how they are completed. Progress is incredibly slow. The flight mechanic that causes you to spend most of your travel time slowing down on your approach, is so frustrating, even when you do it correctly. It just doesn't feel fun. Can't they hire a writer and give the game a narrative? How about an interactive tutorial series of missions with a mentor character? It's just so lifeless and lacking in humanity. Boring, matter-of-fact text everywhere.
@CultofHindsight9 жыл бұрын
+Kael There is a narrative, you need to read Galnet. It's not hard to find. Supercruise travel is fun to plenty of people. Fun is subjective, so you mean "it just doesn't feel fun to me". I think it is a ton of fun. Elite does not hold your hand, thank god. No mentors, no interactive tutorials. This isn't some dumbed down FPS shooter. And no there won't be cutscenes. Is there some sort of major issue with you playing the game for a few hours and then stopping? There are plenty of great games that I play for a few hours and then stop. "It's just so lifeless and lacking in humanity. Boring, matter-of-fact text everywhere." I can tell you really like cutscenes.
