It's good to see ED improving. Fantastic to get the debug camera at last! Might do some ED videos now ;). But it still has a long way to go for me though. I really want to see them breathe some life into the NPCs. Mission givers and ships you see flying around. Its just so hard to care about the game's fiction when everything is so dry...

Scott, you magnificent person! The wings-update plus this video equal enough awesomeness to get me hyped for the game again. As you are literally the person responsible for getting me into the game again, I dare you to answer me thus: how well can one deal with the low speed of the Vulture? As a Viper pilot, I like the Viper's bang with its higher manoeuvrability than the Cobra, combined with a high speed that lets me control the fight overall. The Vulture as a ship that's outrun by a T6, however, I cannot but fear that it only allows for a fire-and-hope tactic. I ask because I'm thinking about putting this as a semi-target between me and the Python.

Must.... Get the.... Vulture.... Played alot with it during beta. I was a little critic that is has only two hardpoints, but after I fitted a beam laser and a cannon/burst laser I realized that it actually two big babies you can fit to it. It shreds like a godlike rocker.

I'm just gonna brag a little and say that Captain Kram blew up in a Fer-de-Lance in Kate Russell's novel Mostly Harmless. So getting that ship is a goal worth working for!

ELITE has plenty of content, but it just needs a little more depth. They either need to expand on the lore and setting, or make player actions more significant. EVE is wonderful because of how your choices really can make a difference. Star Citizen is looking good (yes it isn't complete) by fully immersing the player in the world. ELITE isn't quite there yet. I think player colonization and system/planet ownership will breath life into the game. Give us a real incentive to explore the milky way.

You are never going to get system/planet ownership. Elite is not about ruling the galaxy or even a planet. It's about being a small part of a bigger galaxy. Think Firefly. If you can't find incentive in the game at that level, it's likely not your game.

How well do these explore stuff? With the fire power these have, I think you'd be pretty safe, but if they can't hold scanners, fuel scoops and have decent range, you might find yourself stuck...

One, very different engines, you can't just combine the two games. Besides that, Frontier has already said that they're working on walking around the interior of ships. CIG is also developing everything that ED has, just with a different coat of paint and it'll play a little bit differently. Also, the two have very different lores and backstories. The two are so different that it would take far more money than it's worth do even try to combine them. Last thing: I don't think it's even possible to do it without either remaking all of ED's assets so that they're just as high quality as SC or dumbing down all of SC's assets to match ED's level of quality (not to say that ED is low quality, it's a very pretty game, it just isn't SC pretty.)

I have really been wanting to get this game and have watched tons of videos about it but I am noticing that it seems all the space stations look the same. Also, it seems the cockpits all have the same exact layout or look the same. The ships are different but then every time I see any video of people exploring the systems seem to all look the same and dont have any major different things to see. If this is all true, I am feeling like $60 is sort of steep for that. I am interested in SC as well as this but it seems there isn't much to do in SC either... Maybe even less than this game currently. I would like to hear thoughts on this cause I dont want to buy a game for that price that I will be disappointed in.

I think the game is very straightforward about what its doing. A space simulator isn't going to be full of action. And the realistic scale imo is what makes it enjoyable. SC will probably be more fun, but lack the scale and imo, immersion.

I agree; but my point is that those of us who are on the fence with the game in regards to the promise of planetary landing exploration may be being led by the nose down a promise that could be just a marketing ploy ("planetary landings in the works"); time will tell. All I know is that it's been about 6 months since its launch and there have been no real major upgrades to the game. It's as if the planetary landings thing has vanished from the newsletters. ("Oh, we have so many subscribers willing to buy the game and play it so f the planetary landing promise for the rest of you"). Again; time will be the test but so far no apples in that arena of the game.

I am still not playing this but your videos made me want to do so. Badly. Especially the pilgrimage to Earth one. Hope my computer can handle it and I wish there was some trial version so I could see if it works OK. But my main concern is that I'm likely to end up with some of the bigger cargo ships at some point. Type 9 is a likely choice if and when I can afford it. And that letterbox thingy will be a nightmare. They should really make it a bit more convenient. I like a bit of a challenge, but smashing into a space station each time you take off or land is not a good thing. Not a good thing at all. Plus, I believe that combat, exploration and trade are the challenges a player should be more focused on. So if they made this letterbox a bit wider, I feel this could help the overall experience. And also, the docking system as I've seen it so far seems to be sending a clear message: Type 9 and Anaconda is as big as it gets guys, no chance for anything bigger. If you want to have something like a frigate, you're out of luck. But, I have to say I actually like the space ships design in ED better than in SC. I think I'd take Sidewinder instead of Hornet any time. Just my personal preference though and that will be something I actually have to see on my computer's screen.
