Guys that middle little slot is for the chains that has 2 rakers, the safety chains! On a normal chain raker must sit at right or at left at the big window

@kostasfrangos3354 Lol "the 2nd set of rakers!" 😂😂😂😂😂 Omg that's awesome, I truly needed that, thank you! Wait- ohh noo wait - you're not kidding, are you? Oh FML. Well that's okay! I'll just laugh at you, instead of with you. And fight like hell with my need to be a nicer person who helps to educate others. Gdmnit!! I was enjoying that laugh! I thought you were being funny about that - the bumper drive link being another raker and all- but nope you were being serious. Sheeeit.... Well, it's NOT!! A Cutting Tooth has 7 parts. Heel, Toe. That's where the rivets attach the drive link to the cutters. upwards, there's the gullet. Then the side plate. Then we come to the top plate, and the very important cutting corner! Last but not least, down and across the way, we have the antidotal (still have just the 1 though pal) Raker/Depth gauge/Drag/Although drag? It's really not a drag It's also not really a rake- depth is the only thing that is accurate - as it literally determines the amount of vertical depth from the top plate down into the gullet is used to cut. Too little and it is not efficient. Too much and dang if it's not a bit hungry, not to mention - in hardwood too much of the tooth down in the wood pulling the saw in, vibrating the hell outta your hands like a 60lb jack hammer laying down iron and spiking the ties- setting forns to pour concrete? No? K well how about railroad ties into the tracks? No, I didn't work on the railway all the freaking live long day- just a summer season at the Ski resort we built a train that went from their Gondola lift to their Quad or something else - started as tree service - then I got the bid on the site work- and then the bid on the tracks was open - sourced the iron and ties, all the crush and then ¾" to 1½" stone for layering the ties, and then going back through with the damn 60lb jack hammer and chinking the rock down in under around each rail and tie it sat on - well that's what a saw with the snot of a race horse and the sharpening skills on the 1 depth gauge per link, per chain, of a rookie can feel like. Anyway, Bumper Drive Links are just that, a upward curve off of the otherwise flat top side of the drive link, and they are on some green chains that meet requirements for low kickback consideration. Yellow birch, yellow bananas, Yellowstone national park - ok I'm out of cool yellow things - The Sun -: that's actually not yellow - it's a very violent eruption of different gases burning so hot they appear to be orange or yellow at times from the distance between it and the Earth. So yep back to the drawing board. But seriously, all jokes and self deprecating humor aside - do not file the the drive link - it's not part of the cutter and does not = the same thing or even the same position on all cutters. Leave the bumpers alone!!! Omgosh. Went from funny as F*** to wtf is wrong with you. What wrong with Me? Well to start with, A LOT- more than we've got time to get into here. I definitely can't get any of my therapists on zoom or anything on a Sunday morning - and my Vet - what? Who can afford a human doctor when you have to pay for a psychiatrist? Just kidding! OMG ppl believe everything they see on KZbin...

Really helpful. The C83 I just bought had the same situation where the raker was way above the depth gauge. As a newbie this video is great because it lets me know that I'm not crazy for thinking something was off with the way it was cutting!

You're the only one I've found that explains the reason for "hard" and "soft" on these depth gauge tools and how those two settings work. The biggest potential problem for the beginner is filing too aggressively and grinding away metal from the tool. Eventually you'll know when the rakers need to be lowered. The chain is sharp but the sawdust is fine. Or, suddenly your chain acts like it has wheels on it. The chainsaw speeds up and doesn't cut, etc..

Yes. It still works as long as it’s 3/8” pitch.

This is the one that came in the care package from Andre (bobe8888). It's a nice, compact little tool. A little tricky to get the hang of, but once you get it, it works well.

The Husqvarna depth gauge tool is made for 3/8” pitch chain only. Brand does not matter. There are two positions on the tool - one for soft wood, the other for hard. If you have “low profile” chain, like a PICCO or Pixel chain, the there is another tool for setting the depth gauges on those chains. You can find the tool on Husqvarna's website. Click here www.husqvarna.com/us/filing-equipment/depth-gauges/ and then select "view all" next to "Select Variant". Select the option you need there. Thanks for the feedback. Stay kind!

Hi Wayne, nice presentation. I have a stihl 021 with an oregon S55 low profile chain and wonder if this husqvarna guage tool will work with it? I've used the oregon tool but it sounds like this gauge would do a better job but don't know if it will work on low profile chains as well. Thanks

You can get them at any Husqvarna dealership. Make sure to get the size that matches your chain pitch. Usually that would be a 3/8” pitch.
