Although, to be fair to the SST...those look to have both been a possible product of cold-bore and getting different POI on the 1st shot(s)...especially the XPR got its last copper-fouling scrubbing as it should be broken in now. Just some velocities to compare for handloads which is all I can really ever get under 1" with anyway. Generally speaking, 1.5 - 3" is pretty standard for factory, from all of the numbers I have on my screen. They are just seated too deep and way too much jump. 4.9 & 3.8 are a bit absurd, though. I've only had worse from Hornady with the GMX 165, repeatedly. I'm pretty sure those weren't cold-bore, too. Most people just toss out the 1st shot, or put one into the mountain when it's been copper-cleaned. I wanted to have it noted & tracked. Trying to find someone else that post videos of 100 yard groups with factory ammo seems to not be a thing, for whatever reason I sure can't find any. So who knows what normal is? People sure talk a lot in comments about .5" but I never see them. Handloaders post them, though.

@@ShastaBean It's not much, but in the review video of that .25-06 we were discussing on my channel (I replied to you), I got less than 1" at 115ish yards in the review video of the rifle with the Precision Hunter ELD-X, and that was the first time I ever shot it. And of course you saw it was easily sub MOA at 500 yards in in varying crosswinds in the 500 yard video, and that was only the 2nd time I've shot it. So I think it's capable of half inch groups at 100 yards...

@@BuckeyeBallistics That's great you hit upon a factory cartridge right off the bat, especially with no copper-fouling laid down. And who knows, with the barrel you put on it & the stock combined with the Savage action...You might get tons of factory loads that shoot like that or better. Obviously there'd be only one way to know that...and see what happens as you go through the copper-fouling curve. On my factory loads spreadsheet, I have 199 rows - with .308, .30-06 & .338...and of those 199 rows, I have 7 (SEVEN!! haha!!) that are under 1"...3 of which are with S&B from my Savage .338. Two from the .308 & two from the .30-06. When I started handloading, I quickly found that seating to factory load depth gave the same results...Only when I got seated much closer to the lands did I see the groups start to really shrink. Some wouldn't even group unless I went to beyond magazine length - depending on the projectile. So I'm resigned to the notion that unless I move away from stock factory barrels & stock, that there are few factory loads that will group under 1" in the budget rifles I have. But at least I do know they are capable of some reasonably decent grouping. I was worried I'd need to start forking out thousands of dollars for custom setups, like I see many of the precision shooters end up doing...but then again, they are going for .25 MOA, and would toss anything shooting above .5" into the garbage. hah The one-time 100 yard 3-shot groups are not meaningless, but they are a close 2nd to meaningless. They do give a general starting point. But I mostly care about the velocity numbers. So once I can get the speeds I want, along with repeatable 5 or 6-shot groups that are tight-ish, then I plan to do more shooting at 700+ yards, and hopefully get lucky with the swirling & gusting winds that seem to always be a factor here.

already was cleaned & lubed. Was not all that smooth right out of the box...which seems to be a pattern for me. I sent the MPR back to CA a couple weeks ago for how sticky that one was. They said they polished & is buttery now. Haven't had a chance to go to range to confirm yet. Hopefully this one gets better, or I may have to take some action for it, too.

A lot of flinching from what I seen and poor control of the rifle would have had better results if you weren’t pulling the trigger also

wrong. You do realize utube has the ability to advance frame-by-frame, right? (the . & , keys). Zero flinch on every shot. Meaning, none. Give that a try, and surely you'll see how misguided your "analysis" actually is. And by whatever you mean by "poor control of the rifle"...you do see it's sitting on a rest, and not meant to be controlled, at all. But hey, thanks for stopping by and thanks for the input. And since you are feeling so confident in your shooting, I'll surely be looking forward to you uploading your content shooting a .30-06 so I can learn some real control & expertise.

I don't know if it was affecting at the time of this shooting (probably was) but I found the scope-base screws had backed out and loosed later in the year...so any of those groups are sus. I'd have to re-do all of the groups to be sure, but really am interested in the velocity differences between the two barrels, for handloads. I seldom have decent results with any of the budget rifles I have using factory-ammo. Hope yours serves you well.
