My former boss Tran Kuong at a bikeshop was Vietnamese. he learned like this young man from the age of 4 every aspect of Bicycles and motorcycles... he would custom build stuff with no fear and had full confidence in everything he did... he taught me all he knew for the 6-7 yrs i worked with him... So needless to say i have a great respect for the Vietnamese and their ingenuity. They mostly come from poor backgrounds like my boss and if u want to have cool stuff... u gotta build it yourself from whatever you can find. Literally turning one persons trash into gold. Much respect!!

The problem is that u need licences and material testing in our countrys. Basically u have to pay tons of money to the company that builds the engine and other parts u use. Then u have to pay a shitload to the government for safety testing. If u ask me, its theft what they do. I mean.. i never heard that those self build things caused serious trouble in vietnam etc. Why should they.. as long as they just build little motorcycles and boats its fine i guess. When building cars and bigger things, there should be safety regulations. But not as expensive as the ones we have in our countrys. I would love to build a little bike like he does, but even that could lead to serious trouble with police in my country. So annoying.
