This video is pretty awesome... After Civil War, my Stucky heart grew to love T'Chucky (which I refer to as Winter Panther) and Winter Falcon as well. You give a great dissection of the potential problems that can arise with the fandoms' obsession with conventionally attractive white men and the history of interracial couples. I'd like to bring up another point of contention, the erasure of black women, who are either ignored or degraded by fandom (and often, canon). In comic book canon, T'Challa's romantic interests have only been black women (most notably, Storm) and he is king of an country meant to represent afro-futurism and a very pro-black ideal that would subvert the Western tradition of degrading black women. So, hoping onto a ship of T'Challa with a white guy, or even a white woman like Black Widow, brings up these kinds of biases as well. I'm pointing this out as a black woman who multiships like crazy, but simply can't ignore fandom's deep-rooted biases.

Imagine a fic involving Bucky being counselled by T'challa told in contrast to Steve's attempts to do the same. It would likely pit the two relationships against one another somewhat but in a well-meaning way. T'challa would have an approach that involves Bucky emerging from his past trauma as a reinvented individual with perhaps an adapted personality forged through hardship and self-reflection. On the other hand, Steve would likely have tried to help him get back to his old self which is simultaneously flawed and kind. Steve would have to realize that his friend is gone, potentially forever and he'll have to learn to love a different Bucky. It could be a platonic love-triangle type thing or even a romantic one but without the groan-worthy attributes of a traditional love-triangle involving jealousy and negative rivalry. This could be more contemplative because both of the "opposing" sides just want the best for Bucky and are willing to back down for his sake depending on how things develop.

I just wanted to let you know how much I love this video. This ship didn't occur to me watching Civil War, and I watched this out of curiosity (having started at this channel with the Hannibal video), but what you say about the post-film relationship potential makes a lot of sense. What I really loved, though, was the way you used it as a jump off to analyse the issues with inter-racial relationships of all kinds in media and fanfic. I wasn't expecting that depth from a fan shipper vid, so thank you. (And yes, Six Feet Under was way ahead of its time there, with inter-racial gay love. Thank you for that clip!)

I like anything that's Bucky or Sam. However, it does break up both my OT3: Steve/Sam/Bucky, and the fact that I really like that Black Panther marries Storm in the comics because that's just badass. A beautifully thoughtful video handling some very complicated and controversial issues. I think for a lot of people (from what I've seen) the objections to shipping T'Challa with white characters are not because they object to interracial ships as a whole, but because they object to the idea of a white person being put in a position of power over the people of Wakanda, as T'Challa's eventual consort (because they think it goes against what Wakanda stands for as an independent black kingdom). Which I think is a valid argument, but I think taking it to the extreme of saying T'Challa should never date a white (or non-black) person ends up sounding pretty racist in its own right. I personally don't have a T'Challa ship right now, but if I did ship him with a white character, I think you'd just have to be sure you were respectful and thoughtful in the way you portrayed that re: the Wakandan people. Who says the person he ends up with needs to be his co-ruler, anyway?

Yes, now that people are pointing it out, a WinterPanther pairing sounds good. I could see that happening pretty easily as T'Challa and Bucky would have spent time together in Wakanda in relative peace as Bucky healed. I could see their relationship developing and deepening. I'm intrigued by the possibilities, and T'Challa would be a strong, stabilizing influence as Bucky sorted through his trauma. Yep, I'm on board with this.

I ship both Stony and T'Chucky, which feels interesting because both of those pairings center heavily around the themes of healing, redemption, and forgiveness. I guess I have a thing for pairings like that. T'Challa and Bucky seem to be finding peace with one another and will hopefully become closer. I pray that Stony can also forgive and reunite as one just the same. And interracial couples featuring African and Caucasian characters are seriously underrated and deserve more attention. It's sad to think they're so controversial.

Great and thoughtful video! I always wonder whether there's a subconscious bias in The Flash fandom where most people seem to ship Barry with everyone but Iris. But of course it's hard to tell, sometimes people don't ship people for legitimate reasons. And I can't say I ship Bucky and T'Challa but I'm there for the banging in Wakanda so thank you for introducing me to this. Stucky is my OTP! Steven and Bucky have such a history together so it makes sense. That's probably why so many people are on this ship and why #givecaptainaboyfriend was a thing. And I think now since Steve may no longer be Cap in the MCU, they just might make Bucky Cap and actually "give him a boyfriend". It would make sense going on from here but I prefer Stucky and always will.

I think Stucky is a great ship! But the one think I sort of dislike with the shippers is using the recognition card to get their ship together. I mean, #givecaptainamericaaboyfriend should be about representation. So I guess my opinion here is that I would be happy for some bi-Steeb if he got with Bucky, or Sam, or Tony, or any guy, really, as long as it makes sense.
