Good to see that Nick Anderson can finally find some relief and humor in what was a heart wrenching episode in game one of the finals against the Rockets that changed his career forever...

I think Kenny probably feels sorry for Nick and didn't want to bring it up. That's why Kenny kept focusing on the "now" for Nick Anderson as an executive. Actually, I thought it was pretty classy of Kenny not to taunt Nick about that.

He’s the same on Inside NBA also… he can pinch nerves and trash talk like anyone but I’ve noticed he has a lot of restraint and doesn’t go too far… ever.

I remember watching Kenny Smith walking around at the Fonde Gym in Houston. The local b-ball players were dissing him, dogging his game because the Rockets had just lost to Seattle in the playoffs. A few years later the Rockets won the championship back to back in '94 & '95, and Kenny Smith is now NBA royalty.

Classy move by Kenny Smith to not bring up the four missed free throws by Nick Anderson.
@magnumcornetto

Those 4 missed free throws really did a number on him, and for the following 2-3 seasons he was in a serious funk. He snapped out of it when Penny was out for the season (again), what was it 97/98?, but it still wasn't enough to get to the playoffs.

yep, also 3 D was out and Horace... It was like 8 man on the roster healthy and Nick was monster averaging like 30 pts per game for two months

@Momoneyb bridge I agree. Even if Orlando got to 3-1, they weren't gonna win that Championship. If they don't know, they better ask Utah, Phoenix and San Antonio.

Orlando was my team at the this time Shaq, Penny, Scott, Horace,Nick Anderson and Brian Shaw but they just couldn't get passed The Dream and forget Nick for missing 4 free throws in the clutch. If that was me, I would've hit at least two outta those four free throws.

How old is the guy with the mike that didn't know about the '95 finals? I'm 25 and I remember it very well...anyway, Nick Anderson yeah! Good guard, the Magic were a team of young gunsback there: Penny, Nick, 3D Scott, Horace Grant (he was the oldie) and Shaq.

Wow. Nick Anderson has a great voice. He should be a blues singer. "They do me wronnnng, man, they do me wro-ong." A little slide guitar in the background. It would be fantastic.

What’s funny, there’s a KZbin video where two retired NBA referees (Joe Crawford and Steve Javie who worked that first game of the 95 Finals) even mentioned about Nick Anderson missing those four free throws- felt bad for him. Missed foul shots cost them the game and unfortunately the championship.

@TRoN1Ck That's what all the Legends had to go through when it was their turn in the clutch. He should've blocked that out of his mind but that's what separates the great players and the legends.

Nick Anderson is a community ambassador... How is that relatively close to being an executive? Funny how he didn't even take the high road and state that he's obviously not an executive.
@tkcwu
@tkcwu 15 жыл бұрын
mmm...he was one of those earliest NBA players htat had a somewhat bulky body (those dawyne wade) but was relatively quick. those guys aways give MJ problems. MJ would say how tough Joe Dumas and Mitch was. He never said anything about starks or payton who also are great defensive palyers in their own right however much skinnier frame.

You can't put all the blame on one guy when a team gets swept in four games....Shaq & Penny were on that team, too! But the Rockets were just the better team that year with Clyde, Hakeem, et al.
