I've cooked this twice in the past couple of days. The second time, I doubled the recipe. This is far better than I can get at any Chinese restaurant here in Sarasota, Florida, including Yummy House. The only change I made on the second try was to deep fry the marinated chicken at 380 instead of 350 degrees F. It was much more crisp, and the chicken pieces remained moist all the way through. The 1500 watt Presto electric WOK makes cooking this, and also the Happy Wok Sweet and Sour Pork dish very easy! I really appreciate Happy Wok posting these videos!

I hope you live in a place that have Asian groceries. Other wise, you end up frustrated looking for those ingredients i recommended. For rice wine, you may substitute dry white wine . for Oyster sauce? use soy sauce then. But taste will be not as tasty as , when we used oyster sauce. Thanks for watching.

I'd guess that it needs to be either tapioca as shown, corn starch or some other finely ground flour. This is to prevent it getting lumpy when you add to the chicken, rice wine and egg. Ordinary flour goes lumpy quite easily.

i really love this recipe, it is very much like the sweet and sour chicken i made at work except for the sauce, they made the sauce too complicated and it had dairy in it somehow. anyhow i had three suggestions to make this even better, (IMO) dark or light brown sugar instead of granulated sugar, pineapple tidbits instead of chunks and more of them 😃 and finally, a little more starch to thicken the sauce up a bit more. i love that you added egg soy and starch to the chicken before fryng, that is an idea i am going to have to experiment with. thank you again for blessing the world with your wonderful cooking i have yet to see anything that i would not be willing to try even if i dislike the main ingredient (eggplant and shrimp lol) keep up the great work 88888888

+paxmowa I believed you. I read that only 0.001% maybe allergic to this, compare to peanut . That is allergic more than msg. In china and japan & most asian countries. Msg are widely use, to enhance flavor to food. Thanks for your comment.

you may omit rice wine & oyster sauce. but substitute it with a little salt. don't afraid to experiment with other substitute ingredients, you might ended with a better tasting recipe. thanks for asking and thanks for watching.
