I still have no idea why you sub numbers aren’t rocketing up, all your content is practical, logical, usable material to any and all shooters and gives the straight up truth about ammo and it’s TRUE performance and sure as hell saves them a ton of money and time in testing themselves as well as buying or not buying useless ammo, and your only giving valuable content and selling nothing with zero bias, hope you subs just keep on trucking, as always great content and another personally well timed one, again you saved me time and money.

For all the hate people seem to have for the 40 S&W it just seems to keep on doing exactly what it was designed to do. I normally carry heavy for caliber, 180gr HST and 180gr Ranger Bonded, but from tests back in the day(Tnoutdoor9, ScubOz) the 165gr Ranger -T was about as perfect a round as you could get... .70+expansion and 14-16inches of pen, with a nasty wound channel(of course they are nearly impossible to find now)...yea I know this is the 180 T which was also a top contender. I know this was broadcast 10 months ago. It popped up on my phone today 2/16/24. I always read the results of ammo testing by numerous testers. I am convinced that the .40 S&W is the best self defense round with good ammunition. I am not discounting the 10 MM as being superior but I have read from many testers that a lot of 10 MM factory ammo is not loaded to its maximum performance. .40 S&W was the new modern day replacement to better the .45 ACP. It has more power and double the ammo capacity than the venerable .45 ACP. without the recoil. As best as an individual can get for a man stopper. The 9 MM is good but most of the time requiring 3 to 4 shots. P.S. it doesn’t “kick” any harder than the 9 MM. Thank you!

Hey Tools. I just had a thought. I know. I was just as shocked as you are. What if the depth of a bullet's hollow point was just as important to expansion through a clothing barrier as it's velocity? I'm thinking(I know!) that, unless you increase the depth of number of the layers of fabric, the compressed depth will remain constant, and a deeper HP will negate that particular parameter. I always think better after a bratwurst, sweet tea and Fritos. Thank you for an excellent test of these Freedom seeds! We're all really grateful.

That's some great and reassuring performance. The question arises as to why the other T-series did not do well. I don't remember what the velocity numbers on the other calibers tested were, but that might offer up a fps sweet spot with these. Another great test......Just rewatched the 9mm test 127 + , yep, the higher speed did not help that round at all. The handloader in me wants to slow that 9mm down a bit to see if that makes a difference. That goes against everything I thought I knew about loading HP rounds. The XTP bullet requires that higher velocity, maybe the T-series breaks the speed rule of thumb requirement.
@CrashRacknShoot Жыл бұрын
If ya haven't already, get the rocky mountain MPR Nuke bullets a try! 124gr. 9mm has shown some wild results. They've improved their old design to work very well and consistently at 1100 fps. Be warned though, if you have a carry arm you want to load for, the ogive on those MPRs are very upfront, meaning you'll have to seat them deeper than you would think, and "match" or tight-throated chambers will have you seating it deep. Either load for a deep chambered 9mm, or get that barrel reamed.
@ToolsandTargets Жыл бұрын
It is pretty odd for sure. I have four or five boxes of the 127. Maybe if I ever get time to mess with some loading, I'll play around with em.

I think the reason the .40 is so consistent is that the 9mm has a small cavity to start the expansion with, and the .45 is on the slow side and gets hurt because of that. The .40 has a decent sized cavity to get the expansion started, and it's fast enough also.

The human body is not made of gelatin. The only reliable metrics to garner from a gel test are the penetration depth of the projectile and the diameter of the projectile. What the gel does is irrelevant. The human body is made of a mixture fibrous living tissue, organs, cartilage and bone. Those material act differently then homogenous gelatin. The wound track in gel from an Underwood Extreme Defender is a marketing trick. It's looks pretty in gel and the company knows that most people don't understand what a gel test actually evaluates. People see a big wound track in gel and think that means a big wound track in the human body.

Absolutely viscious strikes! Best performance rom T series I've ever seen. I still won't pay ten bucks more than HST'S or Gold Dot.

Thing is, 40 is a built all to hell 10mm short. It's a beast from a tiny package.

They are awesome when they work. But I have had the 40 to fail I'm scared to carry them myself. Hst or gold dot hard to beat. Great video

What do you mean by "fail?"
@jameswilson5562 Жыл бұрын
Fail to expand the 165 and 180 out of a full size sig 320 and there are more videos showing them fail also but sometimes they work good its just a chance the individual has to take

I remember a govt contract loading of this or pretty darn close was surprised some years back and I ended up with a little bit. Never really carried it though because I only ever saw the Ranger-T hype and nothing up front like this. Thanks *oddly enough I think it was spec’s out for 980 FPS but that may have been with an agency specified test weapon. Who knows

I've had mixed results with em depending on caliber and weight, but these .40's seem to be really good stuff.😎👍

I like your combination of cloth for this test. It seems a bit more realistic than 4 layers of denim in my opinion.

Appreciate that. I think so too. I might adjust it a little for summer time.

Damn that's some pretty impressive performance. I prefer the 180 grain projectiles when I'm carrying the .40 🙂👍
