Trustingly, I bought an inexpensive Alvarez online, and it arrived unplayable due to sharply protruding razor-like fret-ends. OK. So I took it to a luthier, who also saw that the bridge was cracked and falling apart. The repair bill was more than the price of the guitar. Valuable but bitter lesson about buying on faith. SHAME ON YOU, ALVAREZ.

Hello, first we are truly sorry that you have had a bad experience when purchasing an Alvarez guitar. We assure you that feedback like this is unbelievable rare in our organisation and the dedication and our respect for people who choose our guitars is unwavering. There are so many points of inspection and technical “hands-on” steps along the way to prevent people receiving our instruments in any other condition than perfect, but due to the nature of wood and humidity, very rarely issues can still occur. The issues your guitar has are caused by low humidity, it sounds like the fretboard has contracted and the guitar has been exposed to a dry, cold environment for such a time that it’s cracked the bridge. This could happen in transit, in storage, or even in a store if not properly humidified, but there is no way the instrument could leave us that way or have been made incorrectly.
