Gordon’s crash in Takes a Tumble always gave me similar vibes to SpongeBob going through obstacles while chasing Mrs. Puff in No Free Rides.

For Thomas and the jet engine, I’ve always had this idea that not only did cranky flip the switch, his hook also got caught on it, and he gets ripped off his “rotation tower” ant lands on a big flatbed(plot convenience) and gets dragged along with Thomas and the jet engine and his crane arm causing all sorts of damage. Like ripping through the middle of Henry’s tunnel and at the beginning ripping through the Brendam box office. And then after they fly by Gordon Thomas veers into a siding with fuel tankers and right when Thomas collides with the fuel train, cracky’s hook becomes detached from the jet engine and he keeps going while taking out the glass roof of knatford station until coming to a stop in the yards. Meanwhile Gordon stops in shock when he sees Thomas in a barely alive state and goes to get help and after a convenient happy ending the outro plays.

It might just be specially shot footage, but I enjoy wondering if it implied Stepney was originally to be the lead character in that episode, but Percy replaced him because otherwise it would’ve had too similar of a vibe to Stepney Gets Lost. Better yet, that shot of Stepney in the lonely shed reminds me of The Monster Under the Shed. Makes me wonder if this was initially supposed to be an adaptation of that story?? In the end, the footage was probably just shot for the song anyway.

If you notice when Thomas’ snowplow hits the water tower, Thomas lurches to his left from the unbalanced force but then falls back straight onto the rails, that’s damnwell impressive considering that was probably unintentional.

If you are going to do Season 7 next, I recommend the Jack and the Pack spin-off episodes to the mix because I can tell that the camera font is the same from that season, but with the color grading being slightly different from Season 6, but colored like if they used a pinkish tint in most of the shots from that season, and that stock footage from the mainline Season 7 itself is used in some episodes like stock footage from "Toby's Windmill" being reused in the beginning of "Buster 1, Moles 0" as an example. I know there are only 13 episodes produced, but that's besides the entire point.

Interesting ranking, I first watch this alongside Season 5 and 7 and it is ok with a lot of it. After finding out it is after Magic Railroad, I see why it is awful to the fans but at least it has been made and out. Between 5-7, I like S6 the most as my first exposure to the classic series with calm and funny moments I remember clearly. Can't wait for Season 7

The season where everything started going downhill for the show in terms of story quality. We could have gone without the unnecessary exposition at the start of each episode unless it was relevant with the main plot of the episode. Like have Gordon Takes a Tumble begin with Gordon pulling the Express during the narrator's exposition, but as he pulls into the last station he is told that his next job is to pull goods trucks/freight cars, which leads into the next scene with his line of "Express engines don't pull trucks. It wouldn't be dignified". 16:36 "When you're forced to work on a project/assignment with your most hated classmate/coworker but you both want nothing to do with one another."

Er, it still has a lot of positives though. Tons of memorable episodes, Angelis’ narration, great newbies, Mike and Junior’s always excellent scores, and the episodes are still 4 and a half minutes so they’re not plagued with the slow pacing of the HiT and Nitrogen seasons.
