Take advantage of the Phoenix box event going on right now. 2000 zen gets you 3 from the z store. However if you spend 2000 zen worth of dilithium and buy the phoenix boxes during the event, you can get much more since it comes out to about 200 + boxes. Just did it and got 12.

If you upgrade a specific ship (say a Summer Event Ship) and you upgraded it on another captain, then as soon as you unpack it, it goes to T6-X without having to upgrade again.

@@balung -- I'm not sure of the exact conversion rating to AU dollars, but I do know that without using Zen discounts or ship discounts or coupons for the ship, or Dill or Phoenix packs or events for the Upgrade Tokens -- a newbie to the game is going to be looking at $50 for an "unlocked" T6 C-Store ship . And that's a lot of money to ask from the ... uninformed . And maybe, just maybe that uninformed person is going to uninstall before asking around for ways to get his/her favorite Hero Ship cheaper .

I think they picked the best method to do it. I new token would have likely put off a lot of people, maybe more then when T6 originally came out replacing all the T5 ships they already had. I am sitting on 21 Xupgrade tokens as is with no idea how to use (I could sell before) but now I can use them on my fleet.

I'm happy Cryptic chose to stick with the original token but not happy about doubling the cost. To me it makes little difference now having double the cost of the current token versus one brand new token. It's diminishing returns for cost versus the extension to X2, but with Cryptic that's somewhat expected. More of Cryptic nickel & diming with rising costs this year, little by little.

i agree and disagree at same time with this. i agree it seems more like nickle and diming but at the same time it actually makes sence that it would double the ammount needed especially if you think of it as starfleet requisitioning the ability to add the new slots into the ship...it would cost more time more equipment and thus they have to come up with a way to make it viable too me it makes sense it cost two tokens to upgrade to X2 especially after they have already spacedock retrofitted that ship once now they have to go in and retrofit new equipemtn areas into the ship...this is just my personal feelings and thoughts mind you

@@remirez2k3 I said "nickel & diming" since Cryptic has already increased the cost of STO upon a couple of items/services this year. This is just doubling the token cost for the same amount of increase so as I said diminishing returns, but it is a return that many, including myself, in STO have been desiring. I think you're giving the roleplaying aspect too much credit, Cryptic did this not Starfleet & it didn't cost anything more than the first token upgrade to apply 🙂

I appreciate that it's using the same token I've been saving up, and I can't argue with the cost, at least so long as those tokens remain reasonably easily attainable. If they start becoming more scarce after this change, then so will my praise.

Honestly for the price of the x3 pack in the zen store at $20 US. The cost to upgrade should be only x1 additional token, or the cost of the dltokens needs to be reduced. A fleet t6x2 is way over priced for what you get. X2 extra devise slots, x2 universal console slots and x1 specific console slot and x2 trait slots. $30 for a standard zen store ship $5 for a fleet ship modual to upgrade to fleet T6 $20 for x3, X Upgrade tokens to get to fleet T6x2. The only plus i see is that X tokens are account wide, but forget upgrading any single character lockbox or promo ship. The value just isn't there.

I don’t think it should be 1 token and I’m glad it’s more. People absolutely need something to grind for right now. Human nature is so funny, because people don’t realize if you easily upgrade and min/max all your ships, you will get bored and quit soon after as there is nothing left to accomplish. When i did play my account was a whale with tons of toons, all the ships including lockbox ships, millions and millions and millions of credits. I just came back about a week ago. I still have all my gear, all my credits but now even i feel poor when looking at some of this.. I take it they took away the good ways to make money like crafting consoles?

I did not know that about the upgrades, but I just ran to the vendor and my fleet buran upgraded on another character is showing upgrades and unlocks on my alt's regular store bought buran

That makes them a bit pricey yet to buy outright($50 for a fully upgraded ship for all your toons isn't GREAT) , but so long as they keep putting them in events at the rate that they are, I'm perfectly happy with this setup.

As long as the upgrade tokens remain easy to get it is a totally fair rate. FTP players are likely to have to pick and chose when we fully upgrade but that is really no different from before so we are in a "the more things change, the more they remain the same" type situation, which is honestly better than most games. At least there isn't yet another thing to clog up inventory (thrice damn non-stacking tribbles!).

I don't think this is a good thing,if you remember they already said they know many players have a lot of this tokens in the banks,and this is not a huge impact in performance,of course is better but i think the purpose is to drain those tokens,and then next year a new addition but with more of this upgrades to make it T6Xx3 and then more weapons and boffs slots,i think this is just the start,so it will be better if it was just one more upgrade token,as the logic says,now the door is open to drain more money from this in the future,and not all can spend in the game so F2P players will feel the impact more than those who can spend some money.

That seems to be quite a jump in power. I don't see it happening next year. Not with the Experimental Tokens at least. Maybe some sort of retro fit for more weapons or a training school for Boffs.

@@gmradio2436 that will deppend on how much money they get,definetly this move is to get money from those upgrades,not all red alerts give the free upgrade so between this "gifts" there will be more releases in ships,and we have to see if they are still doing the same amount of red alerts in the future,time will tell but one thing i know,they mess with a lot of things last years and my confidence in them is not the best.

Remember folks, 20 bucks gets you 2k zen which gets you 3 upgrades from zen store. But selling zen for phoenix tokens during a phoenix event gets you more t6x tokens.

Don't bother with tier 5. Grab a tier 6 and upgrade that one. Tier 5 uses a T-5U token to make it near a T6 ship, but it won't have the extra bridge officer power seat or specializations.

I'll add to make it more certain any answer: Right now I'm looking to buy polaron cannons and turrets for my bird of prey, because I found 2 consoles for polaron % dmg. I'm also looking to buy consoles for my other alts, because the ones I got with loot don't help.

You will need Energy Credits, but you can find these in the Exchange. Just search for polaron and all the types of weapons will show up. @@apoleonschneider Another way to get weapons is through the reputation system. You would have to check each faction out and see which has the weapons you need in the UI. For instance, raising your Dyson rep may get you what you need/ This can be achieved with the 2 dailies that can be completed: an hourly and a 20 hour one.

Best place is the Exchange. There are no vendors that sell non-standard gear. If you're unwilling to hope to get lucky from drops of play through to certain Missions that will grant what you're looking for as a repeatable reward, then the Exchange is your answer. There is one other place you can can get, literally, "Standard Issue Gear" and that is from other ships you acquire (either from Events or from purchasing in the store). Every ship comes with "Standard" Weapons and Gear (Shields, etc). As an example, all Jem'Hadar ships come pre-equipped with Polaron Weaponry. Do keep in mind there are certain ships that do NOT come pre-equipped with gear, so if you intend to acquire ships, you may want to research the ship you're interested first just to see what it comes with. The only thing they don't come with are consoles. Those you have to get from drops, missions, and the Exchange. At Tier 6, all ships come with a unique Universal Console. Some Tier 5's do as well. If you REALLY want to, you also have the option of bartering with other players you come across. Do keep in the mind the level of the player you're talking to. If you're Level 20 and the player you're talking to is Level 65, chances are all of their stuff is Level 65 and, thus, you won't be able to use until you're high enough level. As an alternative, if you're high enough level to have unlocked it, I recommend investing in the Reputation System. You can get good weapons, gear, and consoles from them.

You can also craft weapons under the RnD tab. Rep gear is also sn option. I believe Delta Alliance, Tempral Ops and Gamma recruit have polaron. Some missions give polaron gear as well. End of the Gamma story line has a good set.

So...I can only upgrade three of my ships with my current stockpile. Lovely. Well, as long as an account unlocked ship that you've already upgraded only has to be done once for each character to have it. I don't want them to give us this and then in three months they come out with T7 ships that are even better. Like where you have a couple of stations with two specialization options you can choose from or something like that. I think that we're all aware that they'll come out with the T7 eventually. And I'm beginning to think it's going to be sooner rather than later. Maybe by Christmas. Or when the yearly event kicks off next year.

I seriously doubt they would release T7 so soon after releasing T-6X2. If I had to guess, I would say next Summer at the earliest. Let T-6X2 cook for, at least, a year. But yes, it would not surprise me if they have plans for T7 already cooking and that it will be coming sooner rather than later.

I do not really like this direction at all and I never liked the whole - U and X ship upgrade BS. They should have made one token that upgrades what ever ship you own to the current highest tier ship. So if I wanted a T6 Atrox and I have the limited time mission Atrox then I should be able to buy a token and upgrade it to T6 and later to T7 of they make another tier. The whole U and X token bs is just nickel and dime crapstick studio BS..

I am going to ask you and a few others for a consensus. Should I pay 75$ to catch up the campaign, rewards would not be free in that sense. I started TFOs end of last month so this is my second completed. Doing Red Alert now. It would take time as well like so much one week and then Tax Season starts in NOV. so might be able to so a lot then.
