Nice simple device. Great help if you're working on a (smd) project. Being over 50 and colourblind, such a device beats looking up color bands or reading fineprint on components Thank you for another good video. Hope you survive in the attic. We're at 29C 60% rel.H. in Noord.

Hello Tony thank you for your video demonstration. Just placed an order yesterday based on your video it's not a bad tester it's pretty good quite accurate for its price. A little bit of a disappointment in the diode test for LED lighting up but nevertheless it's not a problem.

Hi Tony, I'm Left-handed Right-handed - I can do everything with both hands - it's a pity that the image does not change in AUTO mode with the position sensor. Looks very good, I will probably buy one (when I have money to spare) 😁 Nice day 🙂 Tom
@TonyAlbus2 ай бұрын
Thats is a nice idea, position sensor, but than you need to be able to switch it off too... like ipad/iphone.. depends also on you working position at that time.. hanging up-side-down, you dont want the display to flip on you :)
@Edisson.2 ай бұрын
@@TonyAlbus Well, of course, I probably wrote it wrong, I meant, in addition to manual control, the option to turn on AUTO mode.

Hi Tony thank you for the review, what does the "D" display mean on the Capacitance range please.
@TonyAlbus17 күн бұрын
While all LCR meters offer readings of inductance, capacitance, and resistance, higher-end meters will also provide additional measurements. These options typically include impedance (Z), phase angle (θ), conductance (G), susceptance (B), dissipation factor (D), quality factor (Q), and equivalent series resistance (ESR). D or Q: D is called the dissipation factor and is the real part of the impedance divided by the reactance (the imaginary part of the impedance). Q is called the quality factor and is the inverse of D. When D is very small (or Q is large), the component is essentially a pure reactance.

Good form factor on that meter. Maybe do a teardown? I'm interested to see whether it has input protection and can handle a charged cap. And throw those China capacitors in the trash. Capacitance way below spec, high ESR, leakage current trough the roof and can explode even under rated voltage. They're not worth the time and effort when quality caps isn't that expensive.
@TonyAlbus2 ай бұрын
Yes you are right about the caps... what a disapointment.

Go get your version 1.6 firmware, improves resistance readings in the megohm range🌞 Doesn't affect calibration stored in the unit or your favorite settings.

ESR on Capacitance Range Tony: Can the unit display ESR when measuring caps? If so, with larger electrolytic caps (say >1000uf) does the measurement frequency need to be reduced to 100 Hz, or can it measure ESR at 1KHz/10KHz? Very nice review, Thanks
@TonyAlbus2 ай бұрын
Bigger Caps you indeed need to lower the frequency by hand.
@pault65332 ай бұрын
Rs on this unit is equivalent to ESR on other units. It works good for >1 uF. 100 Hz is what you want for E-caps. D and Rs is rather inconsistent for for small non polarized caps.

OK well just that quickly they rolled out v1.7 to address a few other things Update details: 1. Added the functionality to save and export measurement data. 2. Improved the accuracy of low resistance measurements. 3. Corrected spelling errors in English words I'm excited to give it a try. #1 seems really cool!

They are particularly handy for hobbyists for checking SMT components before they install them, as well as for comparing 2 identical circuits such as channels in stereo amplifiers, since each device tested includes all of the same interconnected components. So whatever the tester reads merely has to be the same for both channels. It makes zeroing in on the problem portion of the circuit very quick. That doesn't matter all that much for hobbyists, but for repair techs the speed matters a whole lot.

Tony, there's no reason, at all, why an LCD can not be used in either hand, since, typically, the bit map display is software driven, and even in Arduino, easy as pie to "flip"
@TonyAlbus2 ай бұрын
Classic LCD has fixed 7-sigments for numbers and some single bit for the 'signs' ... for bitmap driven lcd this should indeed not be a problem. but why use that if you have now OLED
