Your reactions were fun and heartwarming as always! 😊Thank you for the great video. For me, savory curry with sweet condiments is nostalgic. When I was a kid, on special occasions my mom would make a _very_ spicy/savory and saucy lamb curry. It would be served over rice, then sprinkled with the condiments. Our choices were usually coconut, chopped salted peanuts, sultanas, crisp bacon, chopped hard boiled egg, and chopped sweet pickle--we could have any combination. With that we would also have mango chutney. The riot of spicy, rich, salty, pungent, smokey, sweet, and nutty flavors was unforgettable!

Guys, this is the weirdest but also the most interesting video you have done! Please go to that curry store and show us what they have! And also, maybe Satoshi can do a curry from scratch video. I know Japanese curry is a different creature from Indian curry, but it would be great to see how it is made. (I make a lot of Indian type of curries at home but haven't seen much about how to make Japanese curry.)

Satoshis face the second he realised he poured too much oil is priceless. What a guy. Great review guys, I'm in love with the way Japan has variants on classics based on where it's made and what ingredients are the most readily available in that area. I know countries like India also have this but I can't get over how diverse something as simple as curry can be just based on where you get it from.

Probably the 4th or 5th time I tried making Japanese style curry, I noticed that the curry at the Asian market had pictures of apples on it... I didn't realize that the apple was shredded first... I cooked a beef curry with big chunks of apple in it... I invited some of my Japanese exchange student friends over to try it and they almost spit it out because they thought the apple chunks were potatoes... I was so embarrassed!

CherryCherry Five Do you have a Japanese or Korean grocery nearby? I haven’t been in Ottawa since 1982, so I can’t recommend anything. You can buy Japanese and Korean curry packs on Amazon, but they tend to cost more than at a grocery store. Some general Asian grocers have them, too. None of the Japanese restaurants I inhabited around Toronto had curry. In fact, same here in California. I just buy the packs of premade, or the powder
