I took the Math, RLA, and Social Studies this last Thursday all at once (Completely certain i wouldn't pass any) and passed all 3 on my first try. The test isn't as scary as you think it is. The RLA is dependent on you as a person, i never did very well in this subject. (how well you can comprehend, what argument has supported evidence, if you were to replace a word, what would the characters behavior then seem like, and basic grammar. Same thing for the essay. Just use the quotes they give you somewhere in the essay, use of evidence to see whose argument is or isn't good, and vise versa for the second person. The only thing to watch out for on RLA is the amount of time they give you for part 1. I had 30 minutes to get through 15 questions that were from 3 separate passages, and was pretty tight on time. Social studies was basically a political version of RLA, a lot of comprehension, similarities, graphs, and basic economic questions. It was fairly easy to get an understanding of all of this. They give you plenty of time on this. Don't sweat the social studies. Trust me. For math, again, dependent on you as a person. I had about a 50/50 mix of basic arithmetic and basic/intermediate algebra, a lot of it was average (mean, median, mode) a few questions about like "I have $40.50 and need to buy this set of things 1, and set of things 2, what would be the maximum number of items i could get of item 1 and item 2". a lot of the slope and line graph questions i got were already graphed and asked you find a parallel or perpendicular line, about 8 questions of inequalities, and that was it. If you're having trouble on math i HIGHLY suggest studying slope intercept form, and inequalities, the rest is just basic stuff you should know, (mean, median, mode. basic arithmetic, decimal, fractions, and all the formulas for given shapes) My final scores were: RLA: 148 Social studies: 152 Math: 153 I'm taking science this week, and i am hoping for the best.

This was so helpful & uplifting. I've been going to so many different adult schools on & off for about 6 years now where I feel like i'm getting nowhere & i'm wasting my time so I quit. I really do think it's been out of fear of failing so I see quitting as an easy way out. You're awesome & I definitely do feel very inspired to study or at least give school another try. Thank you!

I started to pursue this in Aug this year and I have hit a wall with math. I passed all my other courses at ease and then when I study math it is as if all I had studied is void due to it looking completely different from the material that was given and even read in the official GED Kaplan book. My biggest frustration is that I can do the work and effectively work through the basics but the moment I take the practice GED math test or the official test I hit a wall because it all looks far more complex than the material I am used to and makes my head hurt and frustrate me beyond content. I just failed it today with a 134 and to be honest I put C on half the questions that just confused me and punched me in the face. It narrowed down what I need to practice and study and will be more realistic with the time frame to obtain enough skill to pass this. I won't let this beat me and I will get through this. I am 32 now and have not stepped in a school since 2004. I must get this done so I may reach a higher level to combine my work exp with education to excel in this world to become a better provider. I do feel so much pressure and I feel a lot of anxiety but at the end of the day it is hard to focus. I will succeed and determined. Thank you for your wisdom and insight it gave me a lot to reflect on.

IM 53 baby and all my sons are very successful. I've had(had being the operative word) two reliable paying businesses , truth is; I was trying to avoid the need to close this chapter in my life, fooling myself to think I really could succeed without my GED......BRICK WALL.; I lost contracts and had to find a career that's always in DEMAND. Nursing was my choice for a career and guess what, I NEED MORE THAN EVER, MY GED....the foundation to my future. WE WILL SUCCEED
