Viewers should take time to appreciate how much skill, experience, and preparation it takes to be able to repeatedly cut wood with such precision that the pieces click together as if they were injection molded plastic or cut by a CNC.

Yes, I had the same thoughts. This is why the plastic stuff is cheap and why real handmade objects with natural materials are better in every way.

I agree...I have not the patience or skill to work wood to metal tolerances...it also says he uses high quality materials and tools. Working metal like that is not that hard, working wood like that will always be impressive to me. Incredibly beautiful. Then he builds his own PCB and electronics...a true craftsman.

I love working with wood. I love doing anything with ym hands, its the best. This would be a tedious and hard, long project for me... It would be totally worth it. Unfortunate I have little to no cahs for either to buy the product or to make it myself (lack of wood working tools) but I have a 3 printer, a cad program and skills that cannot go to waste. I would love to show you what I come up with if you care to see, but otherwise, I just want you to know, you inspire me so much! My head is already spinning a million miles per hour thinking of ways I can both hand craft and 3d print this better and faster, or longer and more detail (time consuming) oriented. I do not mind projects that take a long time to complete. I am very patient, and stubborn, so I know I can see things like this come to life, every time.

I think if you sold the precut wood blocks and paper I would buy immediately. I occasionally have trouble with this type of precision because I use mostly hand tools. But I’d pay for such appreciation to the product and craft.
@AdrianPreda5 жыл бұрын
I considered selling them also as kits, but they will still need some kind of fine tuning, especially the kumiko panels. Even if the frame is perfectly made, there will still be little little imperfections in squareness for example, and the lamp being so small all those will be amplified and visible. I fine tune/edge plane each kumiko panel at the shooting board to match precisely in those spaces. I haven't show it here in the clip, but you can see it on an older one I made almost a year ago.
