so the way this would be done is to figure out what radial and dme the target area is from the TACAN you want to use, and intercept that radial and follow it to the said dme.

Hey, really appreciate your videos. Jumping back in the pit after being parked for almost 10 years. Watching your videos helps me out tremendously!!! So, I created my own training mission for TACAN. Specs: DCS 2.9 Open Beta, Sinai map, ...I used a KC-135 and while in the mission editor I set the tanker's TACAN to 64X. Once in pit I go through the procedures of getting TACAN set up, but I can't get the Tanker to show when in A/A TR. However, I can get the tanker when I'm in TCN T/R. So, I created a post on DCS's facebook and a few comments state there's a problem w/ Tanker's TACAN and other opinions as to the why....wondering if you can shed some light on the why, or how did you get it work as in your video? Is there something in Mission Editor I'm not setting correctly, or is this a bug in 2.9 Open Beta, etc......thanks again for all your videos. enjoy watching and retraining myself...

A/A T/R is broken. It was working when I made this video, but was broken soon after and has been since. Not sure when we'll get a fix.

From my experience, range is only shown on X-ray band.

Ed broke it again in december 2021, can' get the range anymore. Started the f16 since 2019 when it launched in october 3, also some times the jet wont turn the engine in jsfrs 1 or two, only if you re-slot, even without ammo/load out. I hope ed fixes it

Keep note: TACAN range is only present in x-ray frequencies. As for JFS start 1 or 2 not starting, make sure you're at 18-20%RPM before you go over the horn on the throttle.

@@BogeyDope I always push my throttle at 20%, i have been playing this module since 2019 =), gotta slot and re-slot sometimes get out of the server, close dcs and open it again. and the tankers i follow is on the x ray band, sometimes the AA-AG mode does not work if you press them after you start.

OMG short and to the point. I get time out torture from the main stream ( I think I am a real fighter pilot tutorials + self serving spam.) My channel is for props(easy for me), but when I do play DCS I do need a little instruction and I do not want to diminish sim time RTFM. Count me in for a Subscription (577), and Thumbs up (25). Looking forward to viewing your other tutorials.

Why is there no steering que on the HUD ...is the F-16 really that antiquated ?

There is. It's the circle with the long line extending from it. Not to be confused with the flight path marker (circle with 3 short lines at 3, 9, and 12:00)

Did this on a hot start jet in a 4ya server with tanker and the mileage showed no distance and it had a red line through it.

So when I se the tacan for my tanker, I cannot receive the beacon unless I am set to TCN T/R. The tcn A/A TR does not work for me. Am I ding something wrong?

No. That is the way it works at the moment a/a has been broken for a while.
