What kind of tree were the old bear trap saddles on? I've seen them in museums, and my Dad used to talk about them and how dangerous they were. Thanks, these are great information.

People call a lot of different things bear traps but mostly wide swelled form fitters

Hi! Tree selection varies widely depending on intended use of the saddle, price point, and personal preference. Unfortunately I don’t have a commercial source to recommend to you at this time.
