Spring has arrived and its time to get your boat ready for fishing! We're taking you on board Tim's boat to look at how he organizes his tackle, what tools and accessories he keeps on board, as well as some key tips and tricks to make your life easier on the water!
Boat organization isn't glamorous but its a critical part of every boat. From properly balancing equipment in order to maintain a level boat, to organizing tackle in a way that keeps it secure, yet easy to access, boat layout is an important part of every angler's plan.
Tim gives us a complete walk through of his compartments and explains why each item was chosen. Whether Tim is organizing his hooks in ziplocs or putting a paper funnel in a back compartment, he's thinking ahead and streamlining his equipment.
Below is a breakdown of the gear Tim discussed in the video. The items are in order of appearance to make it simple for you to find what you're searching for.

I just realized I do this on a daily basis. Get my boxes all organized during the evening after work. Come home the next day and think "Nah these plugs need to be in this box with these". Next day they're back in the box from the day before. Then the weekend comes and they are all scattered around in who know which box. Monday comes and the cycle starts all over again. Wouldn't have any other way.

I have a 16 ft Tracker Grizzly and have built decks on it. I use the space under my large back deck as storage. Same system with separating types of tackle but I use the smaller boxes and store them in large Tupperware bins with lids. One large box on under side of the rear deck. It’s a great way to get the same storage method but without the compartments. My “day” tackle box has a little bit of everything and it stays under the front deck. You always find the best for what you have to work with. I will look into those Mafia bags for some of my plastics as I just use large freezer bags right now. Great vid as always! Thanks for the hard work you guys put in.👍🏻

Here’s a little tip for you, since you guys always have great tips for us. I customized a bass mafia box like the one you have for your lipless cranks for a-rigs. Take the dividers from your Plano a-Rig box and trace the cut out on the bass mafia dividers and cut them out. You now have waterproof box for your a-rigs.

Great video Tim! Just a tip for guys for your a-rigs take an O wacky rig rubber o ring and slip it over the rig head. All you have to do then is slide it down toward the hooks and the rig will compress neatly for storage or while on the deck. The ring are super durable don't effect the action and cost next to nothing. No need for special storage fir boxes anymore!

Love the videos Tim. One thing I do after a day of fishing is to open my tackle boxes and let them air out/dry out. Another thing I don't leave my tackle in the boat between fishing trips. Unfortunately I don't have a garage to store my boat. Just a tarp to cover her up which still allows moisture in the boat.

Hey Guys! Thanks for all the time you put forth into the TacticalBassin videos, we all appreciate it! I was wondering what your rule of thumb is for all your fishing line? Do you buy all new line twice a year and throw all the old away? Do you perform a tinsel strength test and dispose of accordingly? Does braid seem to last longer than the mono/flora? Any insight would be awesome. Thanks again!!
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 5 жыл бұрын
Braid lasts extremely well, often a year or two even with serious use. Mono/fluoro get dumped about twice a year, just like you would expect. With braid keep an eye on fraying, once it starts falling apart, its toast.

Left a few holes is the side from where screws were to hold console in place. I have installed stereo speakers on the side walls as well. I took out the speak off temporaryily and reached inside to attach a kayak paddle holder clip. Now it holds my retractable net pole. I tried the back of the seat but was scared I would trip over the pole between the two seats and the fold down. Where do you store you net.

@@tacticalbassin Tim thanks, I enjoyed the organization video, because it applies to more than just a boat. I enjoy all of yours and Matt's videos. They are practical & simplistic in every aspect. I made a spinner bait deep coffin case from an old CD case by using coro-plast for dividers to hang baits. An A-Rig box from an old divider art pencil box & a Soft Plastic Binder from an old zipper binder using HD freezer zip lock bags. I Hemmed the bottom of bags with banner tape, added 3 grommets to fit the 3-ring binder. I'm in the sign business so I had the banner stuff. Fits nicely in a backpack for Grab & Go fishing.

I got those exact same Plano boxes for my yak. Not trying to loose everything when I eventually flip. Wondering if you’ve tried out those new boxes that have the sticky coating to keep the baits from moving around?

I have not. One thing that I forgot to mention on my hook boxes, keep the little foam square that comes in some hook packages and put that in the bottom of the compartment. It keeps the hooks from sling around.

Lurelock makes a great box with the sticky coating. Just bought one for my terminal tackle and it works great. Only downside is that it's not waterproof.

Thanks for replying! Yeah you’ve spoken about using the foam before along with leaving the labels the terminal tackle comes with. It’s made a big difference in my organization. I pack light since I’m primarily shore and kayak fishing so my boxes need to be multi purpose. Just a side note, you and Matt really make my day with your videos. Really awesome to get a reply. I’ve learned more from your videos than anything else and I’ve seen a big increase in numbers and size. Thank you so much!

Many of us share that “sickness”, my ‘garage’ is a “poor” 8 square meter. I share a lot of your ideas, ofc in smaller numbers/size.BE CAREFUL: You Might Start a Pandemonium with Tactical Bassin’. ‘Nice’ bass boat, sick trailer.

I have some megabass dark sleepers and the tails keep getting warped. Any suggestions to prevent or reduce this?
@m2m-minutestomidnightbassi925

Kevin Zap I had the same problem. What I did was get some very inexpensive upholstery foam at Michaels (hobby lobby & Joann fabrics and most home improvement store do as well) it was $5 for a lifetime worth...and made cut outs for each sleeper. Don’t buy the expensive dense foam, you don’t need it and it’s too hard to cut. Each bait will need 2 rectangular pieces that will hold your sleeper. Make the rectangular foam cutouts thick enough to squeeze the bait width wise. Simple, cheap and effective. Oh, measure the depth of your box because you’ll want the foam you buy to be as thick as the depth of your box. Slightly higher is ok too. Good luck

I added a video on my channel, that’s really not a channel, of what I earlier explained on how to keep your Sleepers tails from getting out of shape. Good luck

All the proper paperwork and evidence was turned in. Last I heard was that it all looks good. IGFA has a lot of apps they have to approve/deny. It takes a little while to hear back.
