@theone4929 Жыл бұрын
@@packattack1762before you back your boat down the ramp, take the straps off in back, make sure your drain plug is in, have your boat already loaded with any gear you're bringing. That appears to be the biggest complaint at boat ramps, and the majority of boat ramps will have a staging area to prepare before you get to the ramp. After you load the boat, immediately pull out to a clear area where you are going to unload your boat and prepare it for the drive home. If you're new to boating, do not rush and make a checklist

Took several attempts to get it on the trailer, and then after pulling away, noticed the boat was off center in the back. Failure to center is often a result of backing in too far. You only need about half the bunks underwater on carpeted bunks for most V-hull boats.

I use a bit longer rope - 40’ - and tether it to my hitch in front of the ball. I unhook the boat strap BEFORE my feet ever get wet, back in, STOP abruptly, when the boat clears the trailer, I pull forward until the trailer is out of the water. I stop and then take the rope off its tether point and pull the boat in and tie it off or dock it. When I load out, I always back in where my feet can stay dry, pull the boat on, lean over and hook up the strap, climb down my easy-steps and crank it up the last 6 inches. Get in the vehicle and pull it to complete tie down process. Dry feet on the way home=PRICELESS!

Best launch & load I've seen yet. I've always tied my rope tether to the boat cleat but will clip to the bow eye from now on. And always drove onto the trailer, and you're right, getting off the boat onto the trailer was always a risk. Like your method much better when you pulled the boat up to within reach and wenched the rest of the way on. Thanks much for the video and the lesson. Will tweak the way I load my boat from now on.

One word of warning, I have a Tacoma and put my tailgate down like that prior to making the tight turn to get the truck pointed the right direction to back the boat in, and the top of my tailgate now has two dent/puncture marks where the winch handle made contact. I leave the tailgate up until the truck is facing the right direction and ready to back down the ramp. Something else I learned is after taking the strap off the boat, you want the winch handle down low so it's out of the way as the boat floats off and the rope plays out from the truck bed, otherwise the rope can get fouled up in the winch handle. Everything else I do just like you did it. I can get the boat in or out in about 90 seconds now. Nice video.

I do exactly what you do except where I store my rope. I have a cap on my pickup truck so what I do is once I unhook the boat from the trailer winch That's when I put one hook back on the boat and I take the other end and wrap it around where the winch is. Then I drive off on hook from the trailer and wind up the rope as I'm walking towards my boat now floating. Then I pull it to the dock hook it up and go park. Coming back I just do it and reverse. It surprises me that some guys just do not know how to launch their boat by theirselves or recover it by theirselves. I could not even count how many times someone has walked up to me and asks for help with getting their boat in the water or out of the water. I don't really mind helping someone it just amazes me that some of them won't even try to do it by their self. Enjoyed your video look forward to watching more.

I've used this method many, many times. It's a necessary method on smaller lakes that do not allow you to use your outboard. Your meticulous attention to the step by step process in order to facilitate a flawless execution is not only appreciated but also admired. All the newbies should be grateful they found this no nonsense, educational video. However this method is a mega bitch on a windy day 🤣

Don't you have people picnicking at your boat ramp?Seems like every time I load and unload my boat there are half a dozen people with coolers setting by the ramp just to watch. My boat is to heavy to winch on that far so I need to power load mine. 95% of the time I am by myself so we all need our routine to make it easier. Thanks for sharing yours.

Thanks for the advice. I’m launching with an SUV, so I guess it would be best to tie onto the trailer hitch hooks for my boat rope. Seen a comment where someone was saying it’s easy because there is a dock. I guess if there is no dock then it would be easy enough to tie off to a tree onshore or worse comes to worse just anchor and wade out into the boat.

Great video. Hope more people watch and learn. Wish more would ask for help, when they really do need it.. lol None of us were perfect when we got our 1st boat. We made our mistakes and learned. Sometimes we got advice when it wasn't asked for. Eventually, we figured it out. Lakes are fairly simple, once you find a system that works for you. To each his own. A river with strong cross current, high winds, waves, and 38° water, just after ice out, (prime time for Walleye), is a whole different story. I'll fish anywhere, anytime, when life allows ! Early and late season walleye, and white bass runs that coincide are my favorite. Once I got the right gear and clothing, weather won't stop me, ( as long as conditions are safe, I'm out there ). Launching is fairly straight forward. You can even use the current or wind to your advantage. If you have a launch with piers on either side, and can choose, things only get easier. Trying to land a boat in those conditions, even if you have help, can be a nightmare. I have an older, 19ft V aluminum V-hull, not a deep V. Roughly 3-4 ft of bow is V, then goes flat, rest of way back. Not the best on rough water, but it's all I have for now. Plus, I kind of get the best of both worlds... I can hit minor waves with the V up front, plus, she'll float in 14, 16 inches of water. Not the driest ride out there, but I deal with it. Back to the landing... I have a roller trailer, and just installed side bunks last year. They definitely help. But, it's a total crap shoot, whether she sits on trailer straight or not. Sometimes I can hit it just right, be hooked and off the ramp in less than a minute. Most of the time, I'm stuck resetting, bouncing the bow over, so it sits right, or stuck leaving it as it is. Good enough to make it home safe, but not sitting perfectly on the rollers. I've tried changing depth, when I back down... Tried moving side bunks forward or back... Even tried using the winch, to bring bow up straight. I'll get lucky now and then, but it's rare. Does anyone have advice for landing the boat right, under those conditions ? Just ordered a self centering bow roller, hope that helps. The front part of the keel is flat, from previous owners either beaching it, or hitting trailer wrong. Probably both. There's a crossbar and roller, about 2 ft back from front roller, I can use the self centering on. That should take care of the bow. The only thing left is getting the transom to sit right. I know the quad rollers are worn and need work. There's 2 pair. One so back most roller sits right under transom, then forward about 4 foot. Before I go spending hundreds on rollers and spacers, I was thinking about making pair of short, maybe 2 foot long bunks, that are spring loaded, and can catch the ribs just right, keep boat centered. Side bunks help a lot, but theyre not perfect. Wind and waves tilt boat, so when I pull out, the transom is not level, and rollers are sitting in the wrong place, underneath. Side bunks are tight to the sides, when loaded. Is there anything I'm missing ? Any suggestions ? So far, no one has told me I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks

Very cool....exactly what I was doing with my boat. I'm not sure there is any other way to do it by yourself (that's as easy). There's a product or two out there to replace the rope you're using, but I honestly don't see the need to waste the money. Glad to see that I"m not the only one doing it this way. Although, I got a great laugh out of watching a couple guys use an auto-launching, iPilot trolling motor to help with the launching. They let the boat slip off, then launched, and guided the boat via the blue tooth trolling motor right up to the dock. A bit gutsy IMO....what happens if that bluetooth goes out, or the trolling motor doesn't respond for some reason....then, you've got a big problem...lol. Anyway, great video, thanks for posting.

Thank you for a great way to launch and load your boat by yourself. I also have come across public boat ramps that do not allow riding your boat on to the trailer because of damage to the area surrounding the boat ramp. I will look forward to making the adjustments on my next fishing trip.

Thanks for the video. We have 14 foot bass boat. I tried the power loading once or twice, until I saw your video. This is how I have been doing in since. I would rather put on my boots and stand in the water than try to climb on a wet trailer tongue.

Good video I use a bungee type cord/rope that's approximately 20 ft. It stays tied it to cleat on front of boat and other end is tied temporarily at the rear of boat trailer. After launch and boat is free floating away, I slowly drive forward easing boat towards shore. Either bring to shore or get out and bring to dock. For loading, I load similar to your way or drive on with trolling motor or big motor. Update: I watched a Roland Martin video and he ties to winch on boat trailer. I may try this. It may be easier.

Great video. Thank you for doing this video. I resemble an old guy a lot, 69, and I just bought a stick steer. To me, it is hard to run it up on the trailer. I've been out once in it, had it for 6 months. Thank God a friend went with me. I was so embarrassed loading it. I was going to extend the side bunkers. I'll try this first for sure. Thank you again.
