Tackling Depopulation in Serbia

Low birth rates, high migration and low immigration are some of the reasons why Serbia has one of the world’s fastest shrinking populations. At the present rate, by 2100, it is estimated that the country’s population will drop by a quarter. But many solutions are available in the country if considered in an integrated way. UNDP is supporting Serbia to reframe depopulation beyond the issues of migration and fertility, proactively adapting to the new demographic reality, to design a sustainable future where people can thrive. Old people are negative burden. They don't work and can't reproduce and never will be able to. On the other hand fetuses/babies are positive burden as they could grow, reproduce and work. Therefore old people are useless permanent burden to society, while fetuses/babies are only temporary ones if their existence is allowed to continue. To ensure existance of humanity in the future only babies are required to live and grow to reproductive age and the cycle repeats. Old people are not in the picture.

I've repeated this video 3 times and still cant understand is this some kind of bad joke or just "quasi experts" talking about population that they are not part of. Since i was born and raised in Belgrade and live there ever since, i am about to explain here why Serbia has the biggest drop in population ever, and why in the end we are all about to become extinct nation. 1. Party ruling system. Political parties elites are nothing more than cartels taking turns now and then. Political parties becomes owners of state, people, resources, land, media, sports clubs, drug traffic, finances and so on. Party members owns everything and anything in the city that can be considered as asset. If you have some aspirations to become someone successful, grow a healthy business, you will encounter every possible available bureaucratic obstacle by the government, because you are not one of them. These mechanisms of leeching are so widespread, that you end up with three choices. You can join them, stay poor or leave Serbia. In video, it is said that tech is one of industries where young people see themselves. Reason for that is very simple and straightforward. THERE IS NO SERBIAN GOVERNMENT ON THE INTERNET. You can freely work with anyone and provide your services to anyone for a decent pay. Of Corse, i have almost forgotten about "great foreign investments policy" where our government is making shady deals with big foreign corporations where people work for 400 - 500 euros a month in factories making cables or something similar. I could write about this destructive mechanisms for days, but the point is clear. The irony is, that those elected parties are chosen by those who are most affected by this system. Poor and old people who were brainwashed for decades by ruling elites. 2. Lack of investment in infrastructure. I think there is no need for explanation here. Roads, Highways and Rails are like arteries of every economy. Our trains are made in soviet union. Quality of roads is so low, that it is not rentable to buy a new car. I think moon has a flatter surface than our roads. 3. Monopolies Because of reasons 1 and 2, economic activity is small, hence salaries are small and this leads to a low purchasing power which turns competitors away from market. This results in Serbian residents consuming trash low quality products by prices higher than those products sold in Germany. 4. Fake institutions. Fake education, Fake laws, even public healthcare can be considered fake. If you have a cancer, and need an advanced scanner. It is normal to be scheduled in 3, 4 months on a waiting list. Of course, if you live long enough... In the end, just do the calculation yourself. How long do i need to work with Serbian salary in order to buy myself a flat, house or a new car. (Average salary is about 600 euros per month, Belgrade is around 800). To conclude, Young people are not stupid. Why would they make families and grow their kids in a post communistic quasi democratic reservation for people ?

Okay look from my own perspective. I have travelled and worked all around the Europe and here in Serbia there's no enough jobs that are paid normally and there no hope that you can make successful career if you are not member of the ruling party, even then the jobs are bad as well but they have jobs while rest of us don't. I personally go every summer and work like a maniac for 3 months for 12-16 hours per day, every day so that I can save some money to return home + all that is a risk because I can't work legally because its to hard to get legal paperwork so I have to do it like that. Simply I want to work but I'll not work for 400euros per month when my bills are similar to that number + I have my own home. I'm not Software engineer so I don't have possibility to get job in IT. So ofc that I have to go outside to work because I make more money for 3 months and bring back than to work full year in Serbia and still I can't make enough. That's very sad! I really want to work but I don't have where to!

2013 i left Serbia and i have to say best choice i ever made. Nearly all my friends left aswell.There are many problems out there not only money trust me. For example how they handle minorities ( Hungarians is a verry good example ) so why the fuck would i miss it? The only reason i visit is my parents if they die one day i never go again. Its the Serbs own fault they could have stopped it but nah oh and about agriculture, Vojvodina ( most fertile region in Serbia ) is actually Hungary the Serbs don't have shit. Only thing they do is fight and fight some more.

Well if you remove from Serbian popuation refuges from the war in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo in the 90es then you can see that depopulation of Serbia is happening in much bigger rate than in Bulgaria in the last 30 or so year.
