A recent story from here in Belgium. A new McDonalds was opening in a big city where many students live. And they were handing out flyers for a big mac menu for 1 euro cheaper. But than Burger King came out with an advert, saying that if you gave that flyer with coupon to them, they would hand you a free whopper. Which was one of the biggest flexes I've seen in Belgium

My favorite "company takes a jab at another company" was when sony put out an "instructional video" on how to share games on the PS4 right after microsoft announced that the xbone wouldn't support used games

As I recall it wasn't just that. Used game discs would only download a demo onto a console. So when you loaned a game to a friend you were only loaning a demo to them. You had to pay a "small fee" to activate the full game.

When I used to work for McDonald's Canada, we were told that the yearly free coffee was for statistical purposes. The funny thing is even though the small coffee was free, a lot of people would order a med or large cup of coffee for the full price just because they didn't want to order more than one coffee! My favourite case of advertising where a company calls out another was one done back in the day by Ford for the F series pick-up truck. They had a Ford F-250 pull a Dodge Ram 2500 up a steep hill all while carrying a Chevrolet CK1500 in its bed. Now that is badass advertising.
