My 3rd gen 4Runner has the same drip on frame AC drain design. I have zero rust after 26 years in southern California. However, if you live in the rust belt and want some protection, I'd go the fluid film route rather than the drain plug mod. I've heard some bad things about that mod. For what it's worth, there's another spot right by the oil filter where condensation from the AC line above drips on the frame/steering rack. There is no drain line in that spot to modify so you might as well hit them both with fluid film and be done with it. Then just reapply every couple oil changes and you're good to go. I've done that and it's been working great so far.

Maybe I missed it, but don’t forget about the East Coats Gear Supply (ECGS) bushing mod for the front differential. Especially If you have a lift, it’s only a matter of time before you develops a vibration (felt in the steering wheel & floor board) between 20-30 mph. This replaces the needle bearing that supports the drivers side CV axle shaft as it exits the differential. The bushing is wider than the OEM needle bearing that wears out when any extra angle is put on the CV axle such as when it’s lifter. You can buy this in a DIY kit and install in several hours at home. 2016-TRD sport DC, long bed 4wd. And yes, a tune is a must. I have the KD Max 11.0, best thing for that truck. No more gear hunting, increased throttle response…

What about the OTT tune on the 2.7l? I have a 2022 Sr with the 4 banger!
@teamoildropАй бұрын
There hasn't been a ton of coverage on the 2.7, but they do share the same transmission as the V6 and likely could benefit from a remap of the shift points. You may want to reach out to Overland Tailor directly to get some better info from them! -Austin

I want to get the OTT tune but from what I've heard if Toyota finds it my warranty will be voided.

@@2A_Duke where did you hear that? Was it from experience or rumor? Genuinely curious.

Cute appropiation of the term "Rust Belt" however it is wrong. The Rust Belt, formerly the Steel Belt, is an area of industrial decline in the United States that stretches from southeastern Wisconsin through northern and central Illinois, through parts of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, to western and central New York State.
