Make sure to use thread locker on your bolts that attaches your aluminium billet block to the mounting plate ! I also used a wide strip of 3m tape to the mounting plate before I bolted it to my cargo roof rack !

The lock is nice although if someone wanted to steal it all they would have to do is loosen the four nuts on the back so it’s kinda a bad design in my opinion.

If you are that low on fuel, I would bet you are going to use both cans.

Just an FYI, you can lock the RotopaX together with both nozzle openings facing up vs one up, one down as shown in the video.

I see one fuel nozzle facing bottom and one fuel nozzle facing on top on your install. Can u make both fuel nozzle facing on top for peace of mind fuel not not leak out.

The interlocking is completely pointless when each can has it's own mount. All it does it require you to breakdown the whole system to access one can.

It’s very sturdy for sure, allows you to use ONE locking bracket rather than two. There’s a substantial price difference between the lock and non lock ones.

I just purchased the locks but it doesn’t really lock the fuel can on because if you’re strong enough all you have to do is grab it and turn it I thought it was a locking system to prevent theft but once you tighten it put the lock on it can still be turned if this makes any sense or am I doing something wrong?

I feel like that would for sure help a bit with them not being stolen as they will have to get a wrench in a tight spot to between the rotopax and the mount, also if two are locked together like in the video they would have even less space to get to the nuts.

Do they have to be mounted vertically with the spout at the top? Or is it safe to mount them laying flat on a roof rack? I'm concerned about leakage.

There are lots of people that mount them flat as well. Just make sure the spout is tight.

Do not like that the one spout faces down when two are locked together. You know at some point it will leak fuel all over the bed. Other than that, nice set up.

Why the hell would you want to carry a can full of gas upside down with the fill nozzle and cap facing straight down...... just asking for trouble and I dont care how good the gas can lid is and locked it will sooner or later come loose and leak.

It seems such a terrible idea to have the nozzle able to point down like that. If it ever springs a leak it’s just gonna dribble. I guess I’ll pair a fuel with a water and let the water point down. I’d rather leak water for dishes and such than gasoline all over the place. Also I’d suggest leaving them empty, at least the gas otherwise you’re offering AndyTifa types to turn your truck into a Molotov Cocktail. Also why the hell doesn’t RotoPax offer sets of say 2,3,4…6 like keyed lock cylinders so you can use just one key?

You can buy security nuts online that you have to use a special socket for. I would go that route. The thieves are more likely to steal my gas can in the bed of my truck that’s held down with bungee cords

Take that spout and throw it away. they are a giant pain in the butt. They either fail to lock or wont unlock. I run a high security chain through the handles and have 8 locks keyed alike so I only have to carry one key for all my gear.

I see tons of people rolling around with these and Max Trax in Denver. I doubt they ever run any trails as I almost never see this setup on trails. I do 30 or more every year. It looks hard-core at the malls. Surefire way to tell. Look for pinstripes on the vehicle. No strips no trails.
