In reality though it was only in the final third Barca was fluid, the rest of the time guardiola specifically told his players to stay in their position and NOT roam

Love these, still having huge success with your Klopp's Gegenpress tactic, having it working with pretty much anything I try. Would love to see if you can make the Conte Juventus 3-5-2/5-3-2 tactic.

Great tactic, spot on, only change I would say is that Barca definitely played with the highest possible line. Pique and Puyol would both be at the half field line, sometimes higher. This was generally the one way the team was exposed as neither center back was very quick and the full backs were so far up field. However what you say is true that in FM playing with too high of a line is dangerous, but to make it more accurate it would be the highest line. This also helped when they needed to recycle possession as the center backs were always very close to the other players.

Can you discuss how to evaluate whether your squad’s players are suited to this tactic? Or, maybe more generally, how to evaluate a new squad and decide what sort of tactic suits their particular strengths and weaknesses? Thanks for the great videos!

Thanks for this video, Pep is my favorite manager next to Arsene Wenger. I adore his philosophy and the way he sees the football. Going to try this with my Inter team on FM, see if it works. I have players like Brozovic, Kondogbia and Gagliardini who are young, talented and smart. Cheers!

tbf, when guardiola was at barca fullbacks were constantly overlapping, they played a ridiculously high line and they used the full width of the pitch. but that's when they were playing with pedro and not neymar. tried a similar tactic but didn't think it utilised MSN as well as they could be
@FanofAslan7 жыл бұрын
I play pep's tactics in the lower leagues usually with success. 1st season I just have to suffer watching my team playing hoofball with the rest of them but then as contracts run out (& with a few sales too) my squad gets re-vamped to include lots of freebie youngsters with at least decent but hopefully good stats for technique, stamina, team work, passing, first touch & off the ball. I then purr as my team tiki-takas their way past just about everybody, with possession somewhere between 60 & 75%. I pretty much play the same way as this video suggests, but I opt for "fluid" when going for it and "balanced" when a bit more cautious. With the "roam from positions" switched on, it works very well: reasonably sound at the back and foxes in the hen coop up front. Finally, I find it better when my IFs play on the side of their best foot (even though the game suggests playing them on the opposite side to their favoured foot so they can cut inside better). With an attack duty, they cut through the channel between FB and CB and shoot to the far post to score bucket loads of goals.

Just say you had to switch Messi and Suarez positionally, how would you set up their roles for that? I feel having Messi as a AP-A makes him sit too deep but an IF-A isnt as creative, I have also tried a variant formation of a false 9 or even CF-S next to suarez up top as a CF-A. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Messi at striker? He played as a FALSE NINE under Pep because he was the only main man in attack at that time in barca. However now they have Suarez and he clearly plays as a striker and Messi plays as a RW inside forward or even advanced playmaker on the rw.
@CurtyFM8 жыл бұрын
Under Pep (which is what this video is) he played as a False Nine although he was essentially allowed to do what he wanted. I explain my reason for using him as a Treq in the video.

Hey Curty, can you try to create Spalletti's rather odd-but-effective 3-4-2-1 at Roma? I've tried to recreate it, but I'm having so much difficulty putting Nainggolan in this system. Is he a Box-to-Box? A Ball-Winner? A Defensive Forward?

It is a common misconception that Guardiola intentionally adopts a so called 'Tiki-Taka' system. He openly states his efforts to avoid such tactics!!!! Tiki-Taka is passing for the sake of it, and that's the last thing Guardiola's tactics involve. Please don't be so short sighted as to follow this cliche observation.
@CurtyFM8 жыл бұрын
Kieran Whiting This is a reasonable point as I'm aware Pep loathes the term 'tiki taka'. However, you'd have to be 'short-sighted' to not at least realise there is an association between Pep's Barca and the style of tiki taka football, whether Pep likes it or not. In terms of KZbin as well, most people associate the tiki taka name with Pep, so it makes sense for me to name the video as such! Got to think about search terms!
@fish18ish968 жыл бұрын
CurtyFM you'd have to be misguided to associate the two. Tiki-Taka is merely passing because it looks nice. Everything about Pep's tactics revolve around getting the ball in the back of the net.
@CurtyFM8 жыл бұрын
Kieran Whiting The aim of football is to get the ball in the back of the net. Tiki taka is another form trying to get the ball in the net. It's not 'just' about passing the ball from side to side. It's about moving the ball, pulling opposition players out of position to create space, which incidentally, is exactly what Pep was trying to achieve at Barca. So whether he likes the term or not, Pep's Barca played as close to tiki taka as any domestic team has in the past 20 years.
@fish18ish968 жыл бұрын
CurtyFM it's just misguiding your viewers.
@CurtyFM8 жыл бұрын
Kieran Whiting I don't think it's misguided at all. I've explained my use of the term.

You'd hope the players would be supporting him - does Aguero have any preferred moves? Maybe change his role to false 9 to encourage him to drop deep.
