Noteworthy points: 1. Ramsdale turned out to be the weak link (not so weak though) in a close battle. 2. I missed Tomiyasu in place of Cedric as I believe he offers better cover. 3. Partey was really good, so was Xhaka, but they were committed in the defense more than attack, so probably nobody noticed their good work. 4. Thiago played well except in one incident where our saviour Allison showed why he's an exceptional goalkeeper. 5. For the first time Luis Diaz could be silenced since his arrival in EPL.

tomiyasu would have gotten destroyed and turned up side down by jota, just like bfor. but it happened anyway, and no diaz was not silenced, he dribbled past arsenal players all the time, he was not silenced at all

I don't agree that TAA's "positioning was suspect throughout the game." I think that is simply how this Liverpool team aims to utliise him, by pushing him high as his offensive quality is at such a top-level that it would be a waste to have him sitting back in a more traditional full-back role. Arguably that does not correlate to poor positioning but the adverse as required tactically by Klopp.

He's fair more likely to get beat in a 1v1 than robbo, that's for sure. Every single champions league team we play always overloads Trent, not robbo. They know he's the weakest defender in the back 4

Something there really spooked me as a Liverpool fan. The way Arteta's build shape could manhandle the midfield. I was thinking to myself as you explained, "In the 4-2-3-1 Liverpool will be fine. 2 v 1 on Lacazette and 1 v 1 everywhere else". But transitioning to the 4-3-3 in build up with the F9 really throws a wrench in Liverpool's defense and exposes the high press. None of this is possible without the low fullbacks drawing all of the front 3. I wonder if Pep was watching, because I'd hate to see City adapt this.

I don't think so that even if pep knows this, he'll be able to successfully implement this. One thing to mention here is - Martinelli. He is a player who will track back and also run continuously forward on counter. Such kind of a player is a very rare breed. I don't think that any of the city player can get into role as that of martinelli. In general when arsenal is playing this season, it can be observed that on right wing odegaard and cedric and to some extent tomiyasu too (when he plays as RB) are aiding saka in attack. However, on left flank there is only Tierney who aids Martinelli in attack and there is almost negligible help from odegaard/xhaka/partey. Also when we are playing strong opponent such as your liverpool side or city then Tierney has to remain deep into our own half so that dangerous players like salah could be kept quiet. In those situations Martinelli remains to wide on left side from where he cuts inside with his dribbling covering almost half length pitch and entering opponent penalty area. So I think guardiola can not play such style when playing against liverpool. Coz he lacks player like Martinelli.

Fine fine margins at the top. Liverpool showed the quality they possess in the forward positions compared to Arsenal which is why both teams are where they are. Arsenal moving in the right direction with Arteta and with some high quality signings in certain positions will be able to compete even better in these games.

this video would be good. imo city’s players aren’t reliable defensively when teams match up. cancelo, silva left hand side can be got at and kdb positioning can be poor. if ur a physically dominant side with good runners and 1v1 wingers city can be got at arsenal did this in their loss. also city struggle a lot when their 1-0 down they get flustered.
