Just caught my biggest bass in the past 10 years on a squarebill. I was night fishing from shore in about 3 foot of water the night before the full moon. It was a beautiful night, and an even more beautiful fish! She swam away happy and healthy!

I bank for bass at night in the summer a lot on my local lake in southern Kentucky. Just this year I started using crank baits. Do you have any pointers fishing at night from the bank with crank baits? I'd like to catch a 10lder too😁. Great job buddy!

@@jasperminton9027 Honesty I just started night fishing more due to my responsibilities at home (wife is pregnant and can't lift our 2 year old due to her being a high risk pregnancy). So I usually go after I put my 2 year old to bed. I have learned that I do better on banks that had wind blowing on it during the day, and especially if there are rocks or docks. I have my best luck with natural colors even though it's dark out. The guys from TB have great videos on night fishing. I remember them saying a bluegill doesn't change colors between day/night. This has rang true for me. My best producing lures have been jack hammer chatterbait, squarebill cranks, and pop max popper. Hope this helps and tight lines brother.

I fish at a marina right when the sun's going down until midnight most summer nights. I've been fishing years with Texas rigged worms and creature baits. I've done the best in zoom mag 2s,ol monster, and speed rail worms. Ol monster old purple color..wich is hard to find now a days...and the speed worm in black red flake, have landed me big bass...all night long some nights. Brush hogs and reaction innovations smallie beaver do we'll on nights they aren't hitting worms. There are lights around the marina also. I walk probably 200 yards up and down the bank because they usually crews up and down it. I just recently started using crank baits around it. I'm still getting the hang of them but can tell I'm going to love fishing them.

I’ve seen you guys do this a few times. I bought the rods and reels and cranks. I’ve gotten a few here and there but I’ve finally kind of figured it out with all your guy’s advice. Well two days ago I just started to wreck em! Ten boats around me and I was the only one hollering and just yanking on em. Tried crank after crank but when that Tactical DD went on it was go time. It was wide open for me for almost three hours. Still sore. Thanks guys!!!!!

Thanks again Tim. I use 1' running cranks often and there are quite a few out there. Manns 1- series, lucky craft 1.5 and 2.5 are favorites of mine. Great baits for running banks and swallow flats. Super deep cranks I really have little use for but a wiggle wart is always hard to beat and the water can be hot. Keep up the good work you are appreciated.

We have a dedicated video on this actually. But it's matching the size of baitfish they're eating. If you see bass eating big threadfin, Gizzard, Shiner, etc... then throw them. I'd you don't see that, focus on Spring when you know they're targeting bluegill.

Being landlocked to shore fishing stinks sometimes. I love cranks, but with the shoreline getting choked out with weeds, it’s impossible. Wish I could get out there to some deeper water to get more use out of them more than just the early spring and late fall. Great breakdown as always on the correct gear and bait pairing! Glad you didn’t go viral with being taken out by that tow. That could’ve been bad!

Unless your grass/weeds are growing all the way to the surface you can still fish crankbaits. Super shallow cranks like the Mann’s 1 minus and others can skim over the top or if you are more fortunate and you have grass that doesn’t make it to within a few feet of the surface you can “ worm” a crankbait by cranking/pulling it down to the top of the grass and letting it float back up and repeating. I’m for the most part landlocked like you and I’ve done well with just a pull/pause retrieve on harder vegetation (algae is harder to deal with IMO).
@live2fishofficial
@live2fishofficial 2 жыл бұрын
Does the Mann’s 1 minus almost fish like a popper then? I’ve got to look into those. The shallowest I have is 2-5ft divers and they’re getting fouled up on every cast. The weeds I’m fishing near are high enough that if top water trebles hit too hard and submerge they get caught up occasionally.

I'm a bank angler in Florida, so, yes, a few weeds to deal with. :-) . I mainly rely on jigs, weedless swimbaits and swimming worms instead of crankbaits. Not the same I know, but this time of year a lot of our fish are buried in grass.

@@live2fishofficial nope, they fish like a sqaurebill/wakebait. my favorite shallow crank/wake crank ever made is the old storm subwart. i dont believe theyre made anymore, because i can only find them on ebay and whatnot, but dude, those little baits are absolutely money. I fish them braid to leader, fluorocarbon if i want it to dive a foot or less, and mono if i want it to run as a topwater bait. They are awesome, but the price of them is going up quickly. Theyre double the price they were 2-3 years ago, but trust me, they catch slobs.

Tim: Good video, and nice that you touched on the 'super shallow' crankbaits, and their application. Yet, if you would expand on the 'super shallow' subject within another video, it would be greatly appreciated. From my own experience going through various, more shallow-running crankbait choices/offerings of various companies, there are some really 'funky' looking super shallow running choices for the angler to purchase and use, today. Different shapes of squarebills (like you touched-on within this video), super shallow runners with 90 degree/right angle front blades, moving blades (like you touched on within this video), etc.. I would think you would have the knowledge on this niche subject to share with us, you may have video footage on how the various super-shallow runners work/swim, and it would also be a timely sub-subject and a fun video to produce, as well.

I use snaps always and never, ever and I mean ever had a problem. Remove the split ring from your crank, tie a #2 bass pro shop's snap to your line and use 1 rod for different cranks. Many crankbait companies use to use them but split rings are cheaper.
