@74Hobbes Hobbes! Love having you in the comments my brother. Thanks man for the support. The system shown is just a springboard for several POUs. I am surprised however how happy I am with it in hard core day after day RunNGunning and reviewing. I'd up arm a bit and throw in water and a FAK in the serious stuff; the other stuff is pretty squared. This is a great LE trunk setup too.

Hey nutn, I know this vid is old and you may have changed your mind on somethings. But, I just wanted that I built my AR-15 when I was fifteen (now sixteen) using palmetto state armory and aero precision parts. I watched a 15 minute KZbin vid on how to put it together and I did the lower in about 45 minutes. The rifle is mil-spec and 100% reliable. I have put arose around 800-1000 rounds through it in about a year and have had zero issues with so called "unreliable steel cased wolf and Tula ammo" and the best part is it only cost me about $700 buck to build it. Of course I have up graded it and all said and done in looking at about $1,300 over all. I say build your own rifle. Just a stupid sixteen year old's opinion though. Hahaha love the vids, thanks Nutn!!!

Great work Auggie. I think Nutn and most other people would say you rock and do what works for you. You're happy with what you have created and that's important along with whether it actually functions properly. Everyone has their own needs, skill-set, budget and time constraints. Only you can decide what's best for you. You don't sound stupid to this 40yr old.

August Tirone Being 18 I did essentially the same thing. I built a Spike's lower and put a BCM upper on it, 100% reliable. However I've not put a single steel-cased round through it. No real reason other than I like shooting accurately and Wolf, while it fires every time, doesn't print fantastic groups. I would say that the ammo you stock for SHTF might ought to be brass-cased, for two reasons: 1). it keeps your chamber cleaner, and in WROL you might have to go long periods of time without cleaning your rifle and 2). Reloading. My dad and I have started hand reloading, and we can make match 5.56 for Federal American Eagle prices, and blasting 5.56 for Wolf prices. And there's no shortage of good range brass to find from OTHER people, too, haha. You might ought to look into reloading. It's a really cool and fun hobby and it will eventually start to save you money.
@americanmight5067
@americanmight5067 9 жыл бұрын
August Tirone Not stupid man, you cant argue with reliability. My ar is a lower I built, with a bcm upper, and ive shot mostly tula out of it. Im prolly at about 6-700 rounds and some of it hot, fast and dirty, and I haven't had a single malfunction. Now im not throwing it in the mud first but I think that's a decent enough sample to feel comfortable with its performance.

Can't say it enough brother...you ALWAYS practice what you preach. Not only giving us deals with certain outfitters as well as giving us the tools to not only ask the right questions of the gear producers when we're about to spend our hard earned money, but to ask those even harder questions to ourselves in the different POU's. This really drives home a lot of the concepts you've always talked about and points the end user in the right direction.

Another big thing about eye pro, I got issued the Revision Sawfly and they come with integrated inserts for perscription lenses if you need them..I don't as I have 20/20 vision, but what I did is I had the optometrist make me inserts that make my vision 15/15 since Army pays for it anyway. Makes a big difference shooting out past 250-300 meters.

Wow that was an informative video. It's great to try to determine which gear might be the best for any given role but I think putting it all together into a package that is ready to go and "squared away" is something that a lot of us haven't fully considered. Thinking back a few years to my paintball days, I can totally relate to your line of thinking. I had that gear "squared away." Now I need to fast forward to the present day and build a system like that for real.
@gravityprone

Just a thought on readiness. Nutn talked about the WROL ready system, but the idea applies elsehwere too. Last month in so cal, had a wide spread blackout that lasted less than a day, but got everyone thinking. I was boy scout on the block.. exept for ... no gas in my vehicle, no bars on my cell phone, and no emergency AM radio. Readiness is a state of mind that needs constant fore thought and practice. I learned from that, as I hope many folks did. BE PREPARED!

I really like the vid. I think I have my gear pretty squared away. However, I always love to hear what others have to say. It might clue me into something I haven't considered, or maybe I'll find a more cost effective way to have some redundency. I don't run some of my gear like you do, but I get that it works for you. So no arguing about what is a better way to carry something. Once again love the vid. Can't wait for Part 2.

Finally, vindication for my AR system. So many people laugh at me because I run a 1-4x Trijicon Accupoint (German #4 reticle) on a Rock River 16" mid-length without a bipod or rail accessories. I feel that out the 1-4x magnification will take care of any threats in my WROL CQB environment, leaving heavier calibers with higher magnification for distant threats. Thinking about adding BUIS though just in case my optics fail. Great video as always, Nutn.

Part I like best is you don't let your head swell up because of all your viewers. (I'M NOT A EXPERT BUT A JACK OF ALL TRADES) You set a good example of a person who cares about the average Joe. It is best to be well rounded just in case you don't have your stuff when you need it. Adapting is the key.

Hi guys, all these data points are spot on in my experience (not a tactical guru, but job puts me in tactical situations). But the number one point can agree with is RUN YOUR RIG!!! You could have the most tactically squared away rig but it sits in the corner, than on game day what good will you be. The guy who go's hunting every other weekend will run his rifle better than the, guy let his kit get dusty and says "next weekend I'll get to it". I'll shut up now, thanks nutn love the vid's

As a disabled former AF enlisted grunt I so enjoy your vids, concepts and all around knowledge base for the uninformed and the died the the wool Tac Geeks. You want to talk about trial and error, try adapting your kit for a wheelchair! But as a ardent lover of the lifestyle and being a range rat, half the fun is putting the day plan together and loading out. Shit. As an AF alum, I'm sure you can relate I live by the checklist! I just love adapting and outfitting myself like Mcgiver so everything is handy and if I need I hand easily explained to my range mate what I'm in need of. I'd nearly give up an internal organ just to spend a day running and gunning with you guys out in the west. I spent my hitch @ Ellsworth AFB in SD and the views are relate able. You are the man and I learn so much from everyone (I think I have seen them all). Thanks again for your service, commitment to TNP and from what I see being a great husband and a kids dream dad! If you ever run into a dude in a gun shop or range in AL I know my gear check would have smoke coming out of your ears as you would be baffled at how me and my manual Titanium chair and EDC (or EDR [roll]) have become one! I was a missile monkey from 80-84. Coming from NJ, SD was a culture shock; but as the son or a Marine where we adventure vacationed before it had a name, the Badlands to the Black Hills, SD was a new outdoor mans paradise. Time off was rare and unpredictable and the weather was extreme but when we had a day or two it was spent hard core outside. Hiking was the primary activity and with so many deer/type seasons you could always get in on a hunt or a 4x4 adventure. My AF experience sharpened me for the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Might not be from a active theater but I'm still a disabled vet with all that cones with it from the mobility side at least. Love your spirit, it inspires me every vid!

another great video Nutn. I hope you will have a part 2 and go a little deeper. You are very perceptive in knowing a lot of us are not totally squared away. Myself included, though making progress. thanks ...

I know your busy as hell man, but the occasional 'tactical critique' or 'preparedness critique' of viewer submitted content would be outstanding! We value everything you have to contribute Nutn, thanks for sticking with it so long!!

I run the same thing I ran In the army as a medic. Iotv, 4 plates, tap with 8 mags, two 3 mag shingles, medic pouches, dump pouch, 4 pistol mags and butt pack with misc stuff. Camelback, etc. I carry 15 ar and 5 pistol mags total. It's roughly about 90-100 pounds of gear. But when you train and run with it you get use to it and it will either run well for you or won't

The one thing I really like about this vid is your opinion on "what gun". As long as it's dependable than it works......that is very good advise. Use what you have and get to know it, nothing wrong with that.

don't worry about it. check out his video. I think it's titled something along the lines of air force stories. It's kinda old so you might need to dig through his videos to find it.

It would be amazing to see a tactically squared away update broken out into a multi part series that shows systems at different levels of armament from one step above EDC to self contained multi-day combat foot mobile systems like what we saw in operation red skies. What vest is Nutn running in each system? What's on the vest? Is this system going to require enough equipment to warrant a pack, what goes in the pack? It would be an amazing extension to see where he is now and more in depth philosophy on level of armament.

Dear, Nutnfancy, thank you for your vids. They are awesome. I love watching them, and listening to them. As someone who wants to be a gun owner in the future, I find your videos very informative and grounding. Until I started watching your vids, I had never thought about size and weight. However, there one thing that I have not seen you do a video on (forgive me if I just haven't found it yet, if it exists), and that is a video on mental preparedness for WROL. As in, what should I do, as a civi

Dont worry about the length of the vids man, the ones who want to see them will watch and the ones who dont will too when they realize they need to know something! Hopefully that time will be sooner rather than after its needed.

that was a thought I had too. For the most part I would always want at least one hand on my weapon regardless while moving so I can control the muzzle (Rule #2). But I think his point is somewhat valid, and might depend on what exactly your doing I guess.

Excellent video, I think it will take off because it's a topic that alot of people should be interested in. I, for one, would like to hear even more about the aspects you glanced over. Thanks for putting it together and all the best.
