DCS WORLD | Mosquito FB VI Take Off Tutorial

In this DCS World guide I demonstrate how to take off in the Mosquito FB VI. The tutorial is a follow on from my previous video - the Start up, so it should help you get airborne easily.

Great video TP! I agree that I enjoy taking off and landing this warbird more than any. The others, too me, need some tuning. The Mossie feels right to rudder response and engine yaw.

It must be drunk. It keep yawing all over the place on takeoff and I cant get it to go straight. Very frustrating. i go slow on the power, i go fast on the power, i run it up and release brakes and slowly build power with speed. still get massive yaw. I cant figure this out.

I CANNOT keep this thing on the fricking runway - made sure easy flight sim was off, like you tried slow buildup or keep brakes on till 3k rpms, this plane is almost impossible to keep on the runway!

@soundtechservices2616 have you trimmed before takeoff, advanced the throttles slightly behind each other?

Hi@@TacticalPascale , thanks for responding! I have had better luck with the brakes than the differential throttle technique - mostly I just needed repitition, but it is so touchy with either brakes or throttle. I am using an X56, which is pretty good but even with the curve put in the axis tune it is still to touchy for me to control at the throttle level. I have found after several hundred trials now that center stick, apply brakes, throttle up to 2500, and try to hit air ground speed for rudder control before you need to touch the brakes, they are just so sensitive. I guess most people don't have this much of a problem. I am starting to make progress, but learning takeoff on all other craft have not been easy, but doable fairly quickly. Not so with the mosquito - once in the airt it flies great!

I think the mantra is Rev Up, Throttle Back, or you risk overboosting the engines when you drop the revs first.

I've tried this over and over and over again, just can't get the thing off the ground. Whenever it rotates the plane just goes into a nose dive and explodes, annoying as hell.

Make sure when the nose lifts you have a little back pressure on the stick to stop it tilting too far forward. Add some nose up trim if you keep struggling

Nice vid. The IL2 Great Battles Mossie is a lot more fun and has the Molins, especially in Multiplayer when you can shoot down surprised 109’s. Keep up the good work.

Watched every video on takeoff in the Mosquito, idk if it’s a bug or I suck probably the ladder but when I get rolling down the runway my speed stops climbing when it hits 32 and my tail does not come up at all. Additionally I tried seeing if I could increase my airspeed for this module in a free flight but I just slowly loose speed until I fall out of the sky. Any recommendations?

Very helpful, thanks. Is there an advantage to not using flaps on takeoff? I tend to use flaps 20 to 30, depending on the loadout.

Yes, if you have a heavy load definitely use a touch of flaps
