Shayne Letendre no USA would have the best team on paper. USA would have unmatched centers, dominating wings, possibly the best goaltending and a very unfamiliar dominance from the defense. Anything less than a silver would have been considered a disappointment

Funny you cut out Norway and Germany! They both made the quarter finals fair and square (same could of happen even with NHL stars participating). A smaller chance sure, but picking those 8 teams is just a clishè, boring and was not the case in Sochi when Team Slovenia made the quarterfinals (VS NHL stars). Germany could of won the whole thing this year, since they knocked out Switzerland, Sweden, Canada and had the lead vs the Russians in the final. Slovenia beat Slovakia and the US in the group stage (showed us simply that good results from Sochi was not a fluke), however the Slovenians lost to Norway in the Playoff-round. South Korea played very well considering the little international experience. They will be playing the top division in the WC this year (after earning a fair promotion as runner up in Div 1A last season). That EA sports don't wanna add such national teams in the games should be considered a crime. The only bad thing about the hockey at the Olympics was the atmosphere. Not enough spectators at the games. NHL has the best players in the world, but many of the players in European leagues are underrated. I'm glad that skilled players with lower contracts gets a chance to show what they can do. However they deserve more spectators. The hockey level was much better than I expected, even with little support from the crowd. There are also many overrated NHL players that don't deserve to be on an Olympic team. They have fans to support them and back them up, but they play lazy as hell. I wish that the IIHF and NHL had a better working relationships! So far it's not helping the sport to grow or be popular around the globe!

Since NHL 16 Lundqvist has been broken. I remember NHL 15 and earlier editions he was a beast. I could play with the worst players and he would carry us way further beyond what any logic could possibly explain. And even playing with a different team and he was a Vezina candidate every year on his own... I even put him in other teams that hadn't seen playoff success in decades and his team was suddenly up there in the league and then fighting for a spot in the final, but eventually reason caught up smacked them hard in the face because it was ridiculous indeed. NHL 16/17/18 he fucks up almost every game allowing easy shots get past him, allowing stupid returns, trying to put his glover over the puck when he can't even reach it so it gets swept away in front of him and BAM an open net goal.... And his sim performances are just a joke. So tired of feeling like we need a mirscle or a collapse by the opponent team to hopefully win or tie in regulation time.
