I can imagine very well how the part about EF will be in the netflix documentary. "It's the LAST week of the tour and EF hasn't won a stage yet, even though they tried so often." then a sad Ben Healy face. and then in the race - Carapaz is going to say something like "yeah I turned my head off and just went at it, thinking this is my shot!" and then they celebrate in the team car and there is sentimental music and everything

Please do not believe he did not know, he wanted to check how Jonas reacted after 179 km. This gives him some insights for Stage 19 where he will be attacked. I was astonished that Tadej survived this hot day so well, normally hot weather is his weak point, but Visma could not take advantage; brilliant tactics from Visma, strategically put Riders in all positions to be able to protect Jonas or if Tadej showed weakness to gain some valuable time. What is Remco planning? Will he have balls and fight for the second position on Stage 19? Now, Visma and also UAE Team have to realize that Remco is still fresh and can attack? Was that his initial plan to attack during the last stages? Fireworks are starting on Stage 19/20.

That said Chapeau Carapaz and gratz EF

given how dominant he's been, he's won 3 with 4 stages left. that's quite a big ask then to double up and sustain that doubling up without any new superpower coming through in the meantime over that time period. or any further injury setbacks etc. he'll get plenty more, sure, but not enough to top cav, not at that rate at least.
