Hey GNT. Great tutorial as always. But I've got a question. Not exactly related to this video but related to the Turning Kick nonetheless. I've pretty much mastered my Turning/ Round Kick & now moving to the Full Turning/ Roundhouse Kick. I've heard (can't remember exactly where at this moment as I watch way too many videos) that _while doing the Turning you kick lead with your knee. Whereas, while doing the Full Turning kick you lead with your hips._ Now, I get the leading with my knee for the round kick part. If I understood it correctly, it means that my knee have to pass the centreline of my target before I extend the kick. But what I don't get is leading with my hips for the roundhouse kick part. Does that mean my hips have to pass the target's centreline before my knee? Does that mean I'll just have to swing my leg like a bat (like the muay thai guys do. But bear in mind I'm learning the TKD Roundhouse kick, not Muay Thai)? As you can clearly see- a beginner here. So it'll be a great help if you can enlighten me on the topic. Thank you... 😀
@shozter73907 жыл бұрын
Leading with your hips means, after raising your leg 45 degrees into the chamber, you just torque/ twist your hips. Which makes your base foot pivot & brings your kicking foot towards your target. If you do it correctly your hip will naturally reach the target first, followed by the knee. & once your knee passes your target, you can extend your lower leg & foot.
@OtherworldlyCitizen7 жыл бұрын
leading with your hips means that you spin your hips as you lift your knee before you kick, like a normal roundhouse kick, as it creates more momentum and thus deliver more damage well i hope that made sense lol
@jamesmiles90487 жыл бұрын
Great video asual mate,any chance on advise when I'm in orthodox do this kick easy as I do Muay Thai,but when I'm southpaw which my favourite side I'm in side stance karate style-and find really hard to release the hip as left kick weaker then right ???,and do more that scuff kick you showed,any chance Raymond Daniels sidekick to jumping back kick next tutorial???,
@GingerNinjaTrickster7 жыл бұрын
Either lift the front and kick off the rear which will be more powerful which I recommend for Muay Thai or work on turning the hip off of the lead leg. Should be able to get pretty decent power as the foot at the front isn't turned :)
@jamesmiles90487 жыл бұрын
GingerNinjaTrickster thanks for tips,yes I fight two different styles and this particular kick very easy of Thai stance,but as my left kick weaker off back leg in side stance struggle to get hip moving quick turns into weak kick,but I have powerful back kick so something doing wrong lol

Just wanted to post this here: a few years ago I watched a Scott Adkins movie, Nina II, one of the fighters in that movie did a triple kick, in one jump side kick, back kick, and then front kick. Just a few weeks ago I finally managed to hit a pad 3 times with a triple kick. It wasn't nearly as pretty as the one in the movie, but I was pretty happy.

can you use this in street fight?
@leledumbo7 жыл бұрын
I recommend this one (the quick switch one, not the both legs one) over plain roundhouse. Average people will be fooled by the first leg lift and attempt to grab or defend from it, that's when the unexpected kicking leg comes in (hit head to faint or ribs to send to hospital using ball of foot). Just one side note: don't make trouble just for the sake of testing it, you've been warned.
@hungrybritishshorthair19767 жыл бұрын
+Mario Ray Mahardhika nah I will try on heavy bag . thanks for the advice
@GingerNinjaTrickster7 жыл бұрын
You can use anything in a street fight, it's just whether it has a good chance of working and is low risk. There are better options in my opinion.
