another cool vid.. imo side stepping is better because when done in a combo it has a better fluidity of movement.. for example .. when you do a left right left hook.. and then a back kick you use the inertia from the hook to help the kick.. what do you think?

Is a Back Kick different from a Turning Side Kick? Correct me if I'm wrong but this kick seems faster while the latter seems much more powerful and produces a pushing force. Similar to the difference between a front kick and a push kick. The chamber looks different too with the Back Kick having the knee down and the Turning Side Kick having the knee horizontal like a side kick. I'm confused whether these two kicks are the same kick performed differently or if they're two separate kicks.

+GingerNinjaTrickster Aaron. I stumbled upon this video with thanks to google. I never knew this would be so popular, I've met one of your sisters when I was a lot younger, training at the same place you and your father trained/own. Your father Gary taught my dad Daniel Price who was the oldest person to achieve 1st Dan black belt in Wales! I think your father will remember him well. I didn't follow my father's route of taekwondo, I did however and actively train as a nak muay in London. Excellent tutorial, I think I will incorporate this into my training. Thank you.

Well it's not one that i would do personally and i think there are far better ways of countering a downward kick but if you want to try it, why not? If it doesn't work, don't do it. Finding your own favorite counters are trial and error. Good luck :)

Can you sort of jump through the side stance? So your foot comes off the floor and lands as you extend/snap the kick out? Obviously it's going to be better to practice the side stance version but would a small hop give more or less power? Cool video!

Hey bro. First I want to say you are awesome. Your videos defy belief. I have a question. I'm doing Khmer kickboxing right now but I've taken an interest in some of the kicks as well as the movement of TKD and was wondering is it actually necessary to go through the grading process and learn all that stuff to pull of these kicks, or it is a matter of having the required level of flexibility and just being shown how to do them by someone? I'm interested in learning certain aspects but seems the clubs around here don't allow such a thing. It's all or nothing. Thanks.

4:28 What if I step to the left instead (using the back right foot to help), Is it harder to use the spin back kick since it will be spin + another 45 degree turning?
@GingerNinjaTrickster
@GingerNinjaTrickster 10 жыл бұрын
The idea of the step is to set up the kick. Adding an extra 45 degrees to the usual rotation is inefficient plus you will be going to your opponents stronger position if they are in the same stance. Stepping the other way takes of 45 degrees and puts your opponent is in a weaker position. Hope that helps and good luck :)
